What games are you playing currently?

After 30 hours, I've finished Fallout 4 main story (Done a lot of side stuff too). I was going to try Fallout 76 via the PC X Box Pass but then discovered it has a very repetitive and annoying Water n Food metre built into the gameplay loop - NOT A CHANCE.

I've started playing Middle Earth: Shadow of War. I didn't really play the first game, but I got this for cheap and honestly I'm not lost or anything (it gives an ok explanation of the very basics right at the beginning). I know that some people really don't like what the game does with the lore but honestl.y outside of The Hobbit and the main LOTR trilogy. Tolkien's lore was so incoherently written that I can barely tell what is taken directly from Tolkien written sources (and there is, surprisingly, a lot of elements taken from the extended LOTR material) and what was made up (well, I know that "Sexy Shelob" was definitely made up, but it doesn't really bother me). The game's story has a very "fan fiction" feel, but I find it enjoyably ridiculous and I like having a game set in this universe even if it really doesn't fit well with the actual books.

The gameplay is fun enough, there is definitely a bit of Assassin's Creed in the game's DNA and I enjoy that series. I've been taking out Orc generals without letting them get away, so the Nemesis system isn't doing much right now. I'm glad I got the game long after the microtransactions were removed and the game was rebalanced to work without them, and right now I'm enjoying the experience.

The Nemesis system kind of screwed me over in the first game. There was this one orc who I kept running into who kept kicking my ass and getting stronger and stronger, and I eventually reached a point where I had to kill to him to move on, but at that he was so strong I didn't stand a chance. I ended up giving up and I haven't gotten around to giving it a second go yet.

Haha that makes me think of the Goliaths in Borderlands 2.......Knock off their helmet and there's this tiny brain on a stalk left and they rage out, and evolve each time they rage, plus a bonus achievement for killing them when they reach God level called unsurprisingly "Goliath meet David"

Tell me more. I had that on steam in my wishlist because I was very undecided
I had it on PS4, so that may be part of the problem. It was a clunky port and relied on swiping fingertips across the touch pad. who does that? But more importantly, the "choose your own adventure" nature of the "game" meant there should be some adventure, some intrigue, and it being a mystery might have welcomed some kind of plot resolution. It doesn't have those. But it's only 2 hours per play-through, so there's that.

There's a good idea hidden in the game somewhere, I just never swiped the touchpad properly to find it.

Holy hell 40 gig for a 2 hour game....... At least it's cheap

The Erica I was thinking of was a different Erica my mistake. I have "Cognition an Erica Reed Thriller" which is an episode based game.

Can you play Erica offline?

Not sure. I didn't bother it find out. I played through one ending, read ahead on what the others might be because the first was so lousy and decided not to bother any more with it.

I just found it online now in the PS Store..... $13 here so I gambled on it and want to see what its like but holy hell 40gig download.

The Erica Reed game I have is more graphical based and is also PC based, I think there's a version on console but it definitely has a lot more to offer.

OK I downloaded a game called The Complex. It's actually an interactive movie as it's live action. I quite enjoyed it for what it's worth and the play system is super easy. It's about a bioweapon attack in London and how the people in this lab cope with it. I think there is also an actual movie based off this but that would spoil the choices you make in the game. It wasn't expensive either.

Need for Speed Heat

I'm absolutely not a car guy or a particular race game enthusiast but i have very fond memories of Need for Speed Underground 1+2 from back in the 90s (i think - god i'm old). I loved tuning the cars and make the coolest looking one i could and NfS Heat apparently returned to that old premise. It was 50% off on Steam so i took the plunge and haven't regretted it.

I platinumed Ghost of Tsushima (really need to edit my rankings in the Top 5 Games of the Console Generation thread now) and decided to platinum the only other Sucker Punch game I haven't platinumed (besides inFamous: First Light), inFamous: Second Son. I'm doing an evil playthrough on Expert difficulty. The game is so much easier playing it evilly

After that, I'll probably download the Control: AWE expansion.

I'm almost at the end of Horizon Zero Dawn......... What a ride?

This has been one amazing game and for perhaps the only time I can say a game lived up to the hype that was generated about it. Just one distraction now as I get the shield weaver armour.

Apart from side missions is there much to do once you finish the main quest? I didn't do any of the hunting stuff, just felt it was not what my Aloy needed.

Also mortality, this game made me think of how fragile we as humans are, and how fragile our world is. What would our actual world look like in 1000 years time, assuming there is no human civilization here or not. Would you even recognize the same places you knew?

I didn't do any of the hunting quests either, as I felt they were inconsequential filler. I did most of the side-quests, and I wished there were more of them as they filled out some of the lore and were quite interesting. I never really bothered with some of the other stuff such as the crafting and the viewpoint stuff.

I did get all the vantage points, and climbing tallnecks is heaps of fun
