What games are you playing currently?

Played some more Salt and Sanctuary today and took out a tough knight with some potatoes, throwing knives, arrows and flame arrows. Kept my distance from him since the first time around, he kicked my butt.

My brother has been in town this week and he doesn't have a gaming system. So he was super excited to play Mortal Kombat again. We put a lot of hours into Mortal Kombat X, which I haven't played in a long time. Tried to get him into WWE 2k18 but it didn't take.

Just finished New Vegas today, enjoyed it very much. Would have finished last week but the final 'boss', for want of a better word, kicked the crap out of me so I went back and levelled up a couple of times to put more points into my speech skill so I could talk him down instead.

Trying to decide what to play next, Fallout 4 will be be my next 'new' game (haven't started it yet), but there's still so many I've started and not finished. Thinking either Last of Us, Wolfenstein or Bioshock.

MKX is a superb fighting game. Not into WWE itself, but I enjoy the games. They feel a bit more 'strategic' than the usual beat 'em up fighting games, if you know what I mean. My friends don't seem to enjoy them very much though.

I'm working on God of War, and after being iffy on Kratos replacing his Blades of Chaos with the Leviathan Axe, I think I'm sold on it. I'm also starting to warm up to Altreus and some of the side characters are cool too, like the witch and the dwarf brothers (who have some funny dialogue).

At the behest of my friends, I also downloaded Fortnite, and, as I predicted, I'm terrible at it. I'll keep on though, hopefully I'll get better.

Watch Dogs Poo I mean 2...

It's a total let down compared to the original but it is fun if you take your time and don't rush everything. I've done a few random things to make the game more fun.

I drove a scissor lift from one end of the map to the other. That was fun listening to comments as you pass by people on the road. I don't think the game designers had intended you to drive those all over the map.

I walked across the map too but that took hours literally. Got killed twice by Tezcas.

I just finished Far Cry 5, and holy crap the ending where you choose to fight is insane.

I bought and beat Blackwood Crossing on PS4 today. Its a pretty good "walking simulator". It has some flaws, mostly in that its a bit shaky from a game play perspective (some things are a bit off, and you walk too slow) but the story more then makes up for it. I don't want to spoil anything, so all I'll say is that two siblings on a train have to discover the mystery of their weird surroundings, and it goes from there. This is no What Remains of Edith Finch, which was mechanically great, had more game play variety and had a more impactful story, but I still enjoyed Blackwood Crossing a lot despite its flaws.

Well, I went to see Deadpool 2 tonight (absolutely brilliant film by the way - actually prefer it to Infinity War) and when I got back I decided to give the Deadpool game a spin. It's not one I'd previouly started but it's been sat on my shelf for ages and I figured a game like that would be pretty short. Looks like it is - 7 chapters and I'm just at the start of the third chapter after about 1.5-2 hours of playtime.

Very funny game, it's not perfect - the melee combat isn't as fluid as the Batman Arkham series, which it's definitely trying to ape and the gunplay and camera are a little wonky - but it definitely captures that crude humour and fourth-wall breaking silliness of the comics (and the movies, even though it was released several years before the first film). and is very playable. Should be finished with it within a few days and it'll be a nice palate cleanser before moving on to another meatier and more serious game.

Example of the silliness - the head of the studio making the game calls Deadpool to complain he's blown the budget on a flashy montage sequence at the end of the first chapter, as a result when you move into the next area the game turns into an NES-style overhead dungeon crawler in the vein of Legend of Zelda, complete with skeletons to fight and a key to find (and 8-bit neon unicorns because of course there are).

Now I wanna pick up a copy of that game.

Finally played The Last of Us: Left Behind last night, and this morning. I absoultely love, love, love the first game, but I just never got around this playing this one. It's just as good as the main game, and I'm really kicking myself for not having played it sooner.
Although now I think I might have to read TLoU: American Dreams.
I'm probably just going to focus on LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 for a while before I get my next game.
I'd been planning on buying more stuff, but I've spent quite a bit of money lately, so I might hold off and replay the Kelvinverse Start Trek game, and give The Witcher 3 one more go. I've started W3 twice already, but haven't finished it yet, the first time I got stuck, and the second I just wasn't really in the mood for a big open world game. Far Cry 5 and Horizon: Zero Dawn got me back in the mood for another big open world game, and I've been in a medieval fantasy mood for a while now, so that should scratch both itches.

Finally got to try out a Switch today. Tried to play some Super Mario Odyssey. Liked the full controller charging grip as it made the joycons into one solid controller. Much easier to use and I can concentrate on playing a game instead of focusing on the joycons.

Also got some work done on Pokemon Crystal this morning. Did a bit of training.

Battletech is the main game I'm playing at the moment. Been tracing my way from the bottom right corner around Directorate space back to Weldry for the next story mission. Basically stopping in each system raiding the shop for + weapons and doing a mission or two to fund that spending. Collected some nice new mechs as well. Two variants of Orion, a Grasshopper and a Jager-A.

Also got The Flame in the Flood for free from...Steam or maybe Humble and have been playing that as my 5-10 min time filler. Finished it and it was a nice and chill experience.

OK this looks like fun. BSG game
