I just started Gears Of Four. Nice little evolution to the series in the first act, though I hear the rest of the game goes back to more or the same, which is a bit of a shame.
Sorry I didn't see this part. It's a lot more linear than I'd like, but the dungeons are a blast to play. I'm only 12 hours in and just now starting the third dungeon. Not many opportunities for side quests yet though.
I've started playing Final Fantasy II, because I'm a crazy person 
Luckily its a newer version with a somewhat fixed leveling system (your stats don't decrease, for example). Its ok so far, but I spent most of my play time at this point exploring how to game the leveling system by having people hit themselves and heal 
I've also got a walkthrough on hand because of the goofy password system, which I don't feel like messing around with. One big stand out thing so far is the music, its really good, which I'd expect from a classic FF title.

I finished The Last Guardian yesterday. Despite it's flaws, I think it's an absolutely amazing game. Even though I loved Uncharted 4, TLG is definitely my 2016 GOTY. I'm also almost done with Telltale Batman... I started episode five last night and I'm totally loving the game.
Luckily I'm off for 11 days during the holidays, so I'll have plenty of time to do some more gaming... my backlog is pretty sizeable.

Currently playing Tron 2.0. I've always wanted to play this game and I got it on sale recently. By default, it runs it a fairly low resolution by today's standards, but with the Killer App mod giving access to full HD resolutions, this game looks as good as anything out there today. I think its simplicity is doing it some favours and it scales up nicely. The level design is great, and in fact I'd say it works even better now that it did in the past. Feels very modern despite it being released in 2003. And having been designed before Legacy was even in production, and even considered an official sequel at some point, it manages to capture the look, feel and core concepts from the original movie making very good use of its license. It's simply a good game.
Homefront the Revolution
I picked up a PS4 Pro and Final Fantasy XV which looks AMAZING! on my 4K tv. The controls take a little getting used to, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
A few people have mentioned "Life is Strange" so I've grabbed that and am having a look at it. It's interesting.
On the older side, dug out the SNES and am giving the Super Star Wars series a go.

Since Steam is running the Winter Sale (and i finally got my internet connection problems sorted out.. was a broken router) i have bought Deus Ex Mankind Divided and Mordheim City of the Damned.
I have been a fan of the Deus Ex games since they first came out ages ago.. love the cyberpunk/stealth/combat/story mix of these games and the new ones are well made with a very cool story.
Mordheim is based on a tabletop game made by Games Workshop years ago and it has been now made into a very good game. You are leading a small warband in a desolated and half destructed Fantasy city against other warbands all the while trying to find loot and Wyrdstones (a magical crystal like rock that you can sell for money).. your people level up over time, there's tons of skills and equipment to try and every warband plays different. They developed their own rules system for the game instead of copying the old rules 1:1 as another company did for another GW property names Blood Bowl (think Fantasy Football) and once you understand it it's quite straightforward.
Both games on sale for less than half the price of an AAA title so i'm set for the next weeks and months.

Just finished Life is Strange. I enjoyed it though I did have issues with some of it. I wouldn't mind seeing a Veronica Mars game done in this style (though obviously with no time travel)
As for the ending, went with the Save Chloe one. I'd spent all of the game trying to keep her alive so it seemed like the thing to do. On the other hand, all the good I'd done for the rest of the town probably doesn't count for much now
I've gotten a bit bored with FF II (the lack of story and kind of tedious mechanics got to me), so I started Dragon Quest IX for the DS (I'm playing it on a 3DS). So far its pretty fun. Its not a super complicated RPG, but its fun to play and its story, while nothing too complex, is still pretty nice. I haven't played much Dragon Quest before, so this should be interesting.
I'm also playing Time and Eternity on PS3. I got this game from Gamestop without knowing anything about it, and its actually ok so far. Its a very anime-ish action rpg, with the big mechanic being that you playas a woman who switches between two personalities/play styles as she levels up. Its nothing that impressive, but its fun and has some entertaining anime goofiness (with a bit of the eye rolling stuff as well).

I bought a bunch of reduced games in PS4 and Steam sales I'll probably never get round to playing but just like the idea of having them in my digital library along with e-books, audio and movie files. The one nostalgic trip enjoying is Dragon Rising which remember playing on 360. And cheap as chips.
Right now I'm mostly playing three games: Dragon Quest IX (on my 3ds), Project X Zone 2 (3DS) and Shadowrun Returns (PC).
Project X Zone 2 I got a few days ago, and its great. Combat that very mildly resembles strategy games like Fire Emblem, but fairly easy and with a different combat system. its fun to play, but the characters and the story are the main draw. I just had a scene where Phoenix Wright and his friend Maya are saved from zombies by Heihachi (from tekken), and then Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine show up
Its really cool in that "let's have a ridiculous crossover" kind of way, and I like those kinds of stories.
Shadowrun is pretty fun so far. the story is pretty good, and the combat reminds me of X-Com (Enemy Unknown, which I played on PS3). I'm fairly early in but I'm basically playing a ranged fighting street samurai elf, who mostly does good things. Its a very well done game, and it was really cheap during the Steam sale. I also got the stand alone expansion, Shadow Run: dragonfall, which should be fun when I finish Returns.
