Re: What Enterprise Do You Prefer? NuENterprise NCC 1701 or TOS NCC 17

Miraculous blood, transporter magic, genetically engineered doctors, there's no shortage of cure-alls in Trek regardless of the reality.

I wish STID kept in that deleted scene that explained why McCoy needed Khan alive -- because McCoy didn't know how the blood would react or change if Khan's bodily functions ceased. That would also explain why they can't just pop open an Augment popsicle for more blood to act as an eternal cure.

That would be a nice addition. That's I had always interpreted it, but it would be nice to have that as part of the film.

That's because you're a sinner.

A creation OF the True Fans, BY the True Fans and FOR the True Fans of Star Trek. Also, a prime example of "design by committee". :guffaw: We had so much fun developing that single picture over time! :bolian: Didn't someone do an evolution of the design for YouTube?
^ Though in TWOK, the matting made the ships look translucent in a lot of shots (you could see planets and stuff behind them).

Not to derail the discussion, but I think CGI has a ways to go when depicting living creatures. I thought Dawn of the Planet of the Apes looked totally bogus.

Kor
While I liked the 2001 version, I did not like the new one for the same reason... the apes looked fake, IMO.
But if you are not a Nutrek fan and you are frequenting a NuTrek board - what do expect?

If you went on the TOS forum not being a fan of that you'd expect a lot of differing opinions to your own wouldn't you?

I've praised the special effects and Karl Urbans performance. I shouldn't have to agree with everything. Differing opinion make a thread interesting. At the TOS boards we don't all agree and have a rousing good time doing it. I am posting here less and less now and frequenting the other boards more. We are just more free to give our opinions there.
I think folks are respecting your right to your own opinion. It is the insulting "stupid"-type comments people which have irritated people. As already stated, just say you hate/don't like it, preferably with a good reason. People will then respect YOU as well as your opinion. :techman:

Re: What Enterprise Do You Prefer? NuENterprise NCC 1701 or TOS NCC 17

It took me right out of the movie and I never came back.

How exactly does that work?

I went to the snack area and got my free refill of popcorn and Mountain Dew and looked at movie posters, played Pac-Man. My wife is a huge fan of NuTrek so she watched the whole thing. Im a huge fan of movie theater popcorn and giant sized Mountain Dew so I had a pretty good time.

Youre a man of taste when it comes to good food. LOL!. There is nothing like a cold mountain dew and a bucket of movie theater popcorn. Sometimes I wont eat anything before I go to the theater just so I can enjoy more of the popcorn and dew.

Got that from my dad, as well as my enjoyment of Trek ;)

My dad always get the bottomless when we go to the theaters just to enjoy it. I always take it with me home to make sure we get our money's worth, though it is not as good as it is fresh.

So...what you're saying here...is that you didn't actually see half the movie. And yet you constantly say how much you don't like it. Sorry, dude, but you don't get to have it both ways. Your rants have zero credibility if you didn't even bother to watch the thing you're ranting about. No wonder you keep asking all those questions about the film.

I saw most of it. I left to get more popcorn and Mt. Dew after the "Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!" scream. I actually went back about the time Kirk got the magic blood. After the "Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!" scream popcorn and Mt. Dew meant more to me. I took the extra popcorn and Mt. Dew home popped Space Seed into my DVR and enjoyed midnight TOS viewing.

Re: What Enterprise Do You Prefer? NuENterprise NCC 1701 or TOS NCC 17

I used to be a fan of movie theater popcorn with extra butter, with a side of hot dogs or pretzels, and other such unhealthful foods. That, combined with a mostly sedentary lifestyle, led to be about 50 lbs heavier than I needed to be, a situation that I have been able to remedy with conscious effort.

Oh wait, this thread is about the Enterprise. :o

A nice dinner with a couple of drinks at the mall's embedded Mexican joint eliminates the need for empty-calorie and overpriced movie snacks.

This way I get to see the movie I want, and the wife gets a date night. Everybody's happy.

I have popcorn at home. ;)

Re: What Enterprise Do You Prefer? NuENterprise NCC 1701 or TOS NCC 17

I actually liked the TOS 1701-A but that wasn't one of the choices.

Yeah the choices were only supposed to reflect the earliest period of Kirks career. The art of Abrams enterprise I like is the saucer because it was based off the TMP refit.

A big bucket of movie popcorn and a mountain dew do have high caloric intake numbers but the key is to have a light and health lunch and dinner before you go. Its ok to have a treat like movie theater popcorn and mountain dew every now and then. Also popcorn at home never tastes as good as at the theater. As my dad always says "in moderation". If you don't over do it youll be fine.

Re: What Enterprise Do You Prefer? NuENterprise NCC 1701 or TOS NCC 17

Well, I actually prefer popcorn at home. Most of the theaters in my area use way too much salt, and what kind of chemicals are in that "butter" topping, anyway?

I cook it on the stove (not microwaved or air-popped), and then I like to sprinkle some extra virgin olive oil, freshly cracked black pepper, and a bit of truffle salt.
It pairs well with a Belgian ale, or perhaps a chardonnay.

Interesting mix. I might try that. Still have some popcorn to pop and just got an air popper.

I also use olive oil for my popcorn at home. Sometimes I put sea salt right in the pan before popping so a lot cord gets covered in salt while popping. I have tried pepper but not truffle salt. I have also sprinkled a little franks hot sauce or pepper sauce if I feel in the mood for heat and a tangy flavor. I prefer soda with my popcorn such as Mt. Dew like I previously said. I don't drink much soda pop these days and usually drink it as a treat or with a delicious snack such as popcorn.
Im not much of a drinker of alcohol so I have never tried chardonnay or Belgian ale when dining on popcorn.;)
