What DON’T you like about the show?

I understand that, but it doesn't feel like the right call. I hope this changes, if the series is renewed for a 3rd season.

Serialised storytelling gives episodes a time and place. Yesterday's episode lacked that, because Mariner and Brad suddenly have hundreds of stories to tell about their adventures together... When just a few episodes earlier, they're still getting to know each other.

Star Trek just can't win. Everyone's complaining about Disco and Picard being too serialized and praising the decision to make SNW episodic. Meanwhile, folks in this forum are complaining that Lower Decks is too episodic.

But then, when are Star Trek fans ever happy?

I'm a Star Trek fan and I try to maintain a sense of happiness as much as possible - especially during a once in a generation existential crisis.

If I was the kind of person who let a fictional entertainment franchise affect my perpetual emotional state, I think I'd might have to reevaluate my life.

I love the show, it is great, cool, light, no too grim or too serious like Discovery or Picard and that is something that I really appreciatte to bring to the Trek universe....

BUT .... is a shame that LowerDecks still has no international distribution
I mean ... what can we do, in the rest of the world besides to navigate on dark waters of internet?????

They haven't. The deal just is taking longer to negotiate.

I imagine Lower Decks season one is being held internationally until after Discovery season three finishes its run.

Due to Covid19, Discovery season 3 was delayed and Lower Decks brought forward. Problem is, international agreements for Lower Decks were in progress before the change, so elsewhere it'll air when it was originally intended to in the US.

The one thing I don't like is that Rutherford seems to be shortchanged on plots. He's my favourite character of the main 4, so I'd love to see more stuff involving him.

I seriously doubt that this show was ever meant to be taken seriously.

That said, the way they talk has grated on me as well, though it seems to be toned down a bit in later episodes. But Mariner and Boiler specifically really grate on me, with their teeny-bopper speak.

That's honestly my only complaint so far, though. I really enjoy everything else about the show.

When it's Deep Space Nine and Deep Space Nine only.

I like the episodicness and lightness, and a lot of the referentialness of the show. It's exactly what it's trying to be. Somebody who understands Star Trek is poking fun at it while also enjoying writing for it.

What I don't like is I think some of the characters are weak. Boimler is too dumb, it'd be better if he and Mariner had more of a rivalry where he sometimes does get the better of her in his own wheelhouse instead of making it a blatant Lucy/Charlie Brown relationship. And Tendi doesn't really have any distinct personality traits yet, she's quirky in a different way every week.
