What do women see in Vampires?

My exposure to vampires is fairly limited, but here goes:

Angel - seriously, what's not to love about dark, brooding angst?

Spike - Bad Boy Sexy

Humm...that about covers it. Unless you count Michael Corvin in the Underworld movies - I love him too...but he's a hybrid and not a full vampire, so he might not count.

As I said, my experience is very limited. :p

I have seen a few episodes of True Blood, but I don't really think Bill the Vampire is all that sexy. First of all, no vampire should be named 'Bill'. That's a lame-ass name for a vampire.

I have not read/seen any of the Twilight novels/movies, and I have not seen The Vampire Diaries.

My favorite vampire is still Angel. David Boreanaz knows how to do angst! :techman:

Ok I am gonna stop you Angela...turn off Twilight and turn on The Vampire Diaries...they ain't so dumb. IMHO. :)

Hey l have watched a few eps of Vampire diaries.

It is a great series.

Oh Spike l hated iit when they had him in the series.
He was not as good as Angel.
he just didnt have the same charm and romantic nature. as Angel.

@PKTrekGirl
I am all about Nina Dobrev...but gals gotta love Paul Wesley & Ian Somerhalder. ;)

I know my daughter thinks that Jacob from Twilight is hot grins
I look at him and laugh l find him ugly.

Disclaimer: I have not seen any of the Twilight movies, nor have I read any of the books, nor can I see myself ever doing either.

However, Taylor Lautner is hot. There can be no contravention of this position. To disagree is to deny reality. :p

Now, Robert Pattinson is nothing to write home about. But I will brook no disagreement regarding Taylor Lautner.

 Sookie laughs when he tells her his name in the first episode:

Bill: "What are you?"
Sookie: "Well, I'm Sookie Stackhouse. And I'm a waitress. What's your name?"
Bill: "Bill."
Sookie: "Bill? I thought it might be Antoine or Basil or, or, like, Langford, maybe, but Bill? Vampire Bill?"

:guffaw:

His human name was William Compton, a Civil War vet who is turned on his way home after the war was over. Along the way, I guess he chose "Bill". He is currently my fave vamp, no doubt because of the talents of Stephen Moyer

And Ian Somerhalder is chop liver!? Sorry...but TVD, LOST & Smallville love here.

Oh I wouldn't dare :p But I disagree about Pattinson.

No, I wouldn't say that Ian Somerhalder is chopped liver... I fell deeply in lust with Boone on Lost almost immediately. But I haven't seen The Vampire Diaries, and from the still photos I've seen, I like him better with short hair anyway.

Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore is quite bad...but in a good way. ;)

You must see The Vampire Diaries. :bolian:

[edit] As far as BtVS goes...Spike was cool...but I was all about Buffy and then Dawn. :adore:

I take it from other responses in the thread that these guys are on The Vampire Diaries?

If so, sign me up to watch Boone go vamp. Is TVD reasonably interesting for adults to watch? Or is it too high schoolish? Not really sure if I want to watch 90210 - The Vampire Version. But otherwise, I might check it out.

:guffaw: I'm with Sookie - Bill is 'fer sure a lame-ass name for a vampire. I agree about Stephen Moyer though - from what I've seen of that show, he is very good.

But BILL? I mean seriously. BILL????? :wtf:

I wonder what possessed the author of those books to name him "Bill". Cus I agree with Sookie - a goth sort of name would be better. "Bill" just gives me this mental picture of some country bumpkin Louisiana redneck in patched overalls stepping out to go have a smoke in his outhouse one night...and getting attacked on the path or something. Not a frilly shirt or velvet topcoat in sight! And vampires HAVE to be wearing frilly shirts and velvet topcoats when they are turned! Isn't that, like, a vampire rule or something????

I do kind of like the show though - what little I've seen of it, anyway. I need to buy the DVDs and watch it from scratch, in order. Because I do think the acting on that show is good, and the themes are more 'adult' (translated, not about high school).

Have you seen the whole thing? Do you recommend it?

Um...Ian Somerhalder is playing the older brother role...although Paul Wesley acts older and he charades as a high school student...the show is good on many levels. I hate 90210...so I don't think it is like that. It is worth a look. :bolian:

Watch that! :)

^ Oh. My.

So Boone can do dark and brooding too, huh?

Wow. Just...wow. I mean, I don't even understand the context of that scene or anything, and...just wow.

Yeah, I'll have to watch just a wee bit of this show.

How many seasons has it been on?

The name "Bill" was supposed to humanize the character.

I love this show and highly reccomend it! It does, however, veer on the pornographic, especially the first two years. Season Three is about halfway done now.

Just 1...season 2 starts in Sept...like 9th. :)

Oh! Great! Is S1 on DVD yet? I may check it out - especially since I still have a month.

Well, you sort of expect that when you are watching a Showtime show (it's Showtime, right? Not HBO?). I'm not too bothered by that sort of thing - it's not like I've never seen bits & pieces before. ;)

For the record, of course, it was Barnabas Collins who started the whole brooding, angsty vampire thing.

And why don't those TVD vampires sparkle or erupt in a ball of flame when they're in sunlight?

It's actually HBO-- which I just got, so now I'm finally able to watch. I've been dying to see this...
