The husband and daughter were both out doing their own things for dinner so i foraged. Some Genoa salami, some rotisserie chicken, some fruit salad and a smoothie.
A friend who grew up in the US South came over and made us a good ol' fashioned Amurikun meal of fried chicken, fried okra, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and "cracklin' gravy" with buttermilk biscuits. Took me back to my childhood when my grandmother (who was raised in Oklahoma) used to make all the same dishes. It was amazing! Though, I could feel my arteries hardening with every bite. But, hey, once every 20 years or so can't do too much damage ..., can it?
Been away for a while...camping and busy real life stuff going on. Let's see went to Denny's last night and had a yummy Lumberjack slam that hit the spot. Tonight I had a deli fresh Pepperoni pizza from the supermarket.
