A friend who grew up in the US South came over and made us a good ol' fashioned Amurikun meal of fried chicken, fried okra, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and "cracklin' gravy" with buttermilk biscuits. Took me back to my childhood when my grandmother (who was raised in Oklahoma) used to make all the same dishes. It was amazing! Though, I could feel my arteries hardening with every bite. But, hey, once every 20 years or so can't do too much damage ..., can it?
Want it again myself!
