What Did You Have For Dinner Last Night?

Found out some really bad family medical news today, I'll be lucky if I have anything other than whisky for dinner.

Sorry to hear that Smoothy X. Had tortilla pizzas for dinner last night and left over Dominoe's the night before that.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I hope it's nothing too serious, or something that is resolved as positively as possible. I'll be sending positive thoughts your way.

*edit* Oh, and in keeping with the theme of the thread, making fajitas and frijoles negros tonight. That seems like such a frivolous thing to add, after Smoothie's post. :(

Sadly, no. The old man took a turn for the worse last night. Looks pretty bleak right now.

I ended up getting Chinese takeout and watching the Steelers-Titans game. It was semi-therapuetic.

Sushi--a salmon skin roll and eel, salmon and sea urchin sushi.

(Sushi, that's what my ex-wife called me: cold fish.)

My sister made bow-tie pasta with zucchini and mushrooms in a coconut cream sauce. I skipped the pasta and just had the sauce over roasted veggies (can't have too many carbs), and it was amazing.

We baked a bunch of those Pillsbury biscuits, butter, and spoon on fresh chicken salad  sooo good!

Today I'm going to watch football and make a dinner that screams pigskin action...

Rice and vegetable stuffed squab*, roasted vegetables, winter squash with apples, raisins, and maple syrup, and a loaf of potato-tarragon bread.

I've been under a lot of stress lately. Cooking helps center me, possibly because it involves driving a knife into something.

*I found an exotic meat market during my adventures in the field for work recently. I'm hooked.

My youngest daughter is over for the weekend so I made a big roast beef and mashed potatoes dinner. Then we watched Grand Torino and Unforgiven with full bellies :)
