What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

But Starfleet isn't the military of course. Not like he is criticizing a fellow Solider or anything. :)

Nice way to deflect from the point being made. One man wearing a clown suit criticizing another man for wearing a clown suit.

What's next? Being critical of the color order on a flag?

As for Picard and controversial opinions, let's face it, he's a pompous ass (Captain Louvois called it) and oftentimes says things about humanity and the Federation that are just not true in order to stay on his high horse.

Nice way of bringing us back to the point. :techman:

The mere fact that P+ is cheap and likes to reuse ships from Disco does not in and of itself make Picard a Disco spinoff.

I've always found the choice of the word "armada" very curious in that line from JJPike. It has a more militaristic-sounding tone than other words that might have been used there.

It sounds like a writer's strike. Or maybe that Abrams doesn't understand words that he thinks sound cool. ("RESISTANCE!")

BTW about "...peacekeeping and humanitarian armada": Pike isn't talking about Starfleet. He's talking about the Federation.

Damn writers strike.

I love how Abrams' gets insulted for his intelligence when he wasn't the writer on 09 and couldn't do any adjustments due to the strike.

Which makes it even more weird, as "armada" is usually a synonymous word for "fleet" - the physical embodiment of military strength, subservient to a larger civilian organization. The Federation is a Democratic/Republic conglomeration of member worlds joined together under one banner for a common goal with Starfleet being used as an enforcement instrument of its policies.

"peacekeeping and humanitarian armada"

Peace through superior firepower

Armada
Arm
Arms

Etymology: mid 16th century: from Spanish, from armata, feminine past participle of Latin armare ‘to arm’.

It's not like he was uninvolved with the creation process. He didn't read the script for the first time during the strike. It's also not exactly unreflective of his tastes.

The Kelvinverse Starfleet must work differently than Prime universe Starfleet.
Maybe. But the Federation sure does.
