Poll What are the chances of a Kurtzman-era DS9 follow-up series?

I feel like a turd because I forgot about him. But would he be more remembered by casual fans from TNG (like Worf) or DS9?

 

Garak, Dukat, Jadzia Dax, Morn maybe (all the new shows keep tossing in identical Morn-like Lurians).

 

A DS9 era follow up series would definitely introduce new characters and storylines that would completely fresh, bold and exciting to say the least.

 

Then it doesn't need to be a follow to DS9.

 

I don't think there is enough potential for a full show and I did tend to veer toward the "leave it be" camp. But there could be a story which might work for a TV movie or a 2 parter within Picard which roped into the PIC crew. Drawing on some of the threads mentioned above. And that is something along the lines of Bashir, as head of section 31, being briefed by the augments that there is a renewed threat from the Gamma Quadrant either from a revitalised Dominion or another enemy. The wormhole is bombed, trapping Odo and Nog and potentially killing the Prophets and Sisko. A galactic manhunt is launched against Bashir ibcluding Captaibs Worf and Dax but his best friend, former Professor OBrien, and his friend Garak, and for ironic value, Quark, set out to prove him innocent, putting them at odds against the federation and placing former colleagues against each other. Now I'd watch that and it would give some meaty drama to get into. And you could have Sisko, either as a short cameo by cureebt Brooks, or deepfaked either aged or unaged, inexplicably be at the house on Bajor as the very final scene when Kass comes home from a trip.

 

Second best series finale in Trek history.

 

Sure he will try to do it in his style and change it

 

The odds of it happening are slim to none. But frankly, Sisko is the captain that should've gotten his own series. His Emissary plotline and cliffhanger ending make him far more ripe for his own show than any other captain. But, Picard is the name everyone knows, so.... (sigh) ⁶

 

And there could have still been an appearance of Picard in a Sisko series, as a callback to when they first met.

 

I think there's plenty of creative potential for a DS9 follow up, but the questions are:

1. Does Paramount see a sufficiently large market demand for a DS9 follow-up the way it did for a Picard-centered series and for a Pike-centered series?
2. Does the idea of a DS9 follow-up really stoke the creative passions of a writer who has Paramount's support the way a TNG pastiche did for Mike McMahan and the way a Pike series did for Akiva Goldsman?

If the answers to these questions are "yes," then I could see someone moving to do a DS9 follow-up.

 

Given the low quality of Kurtzman's Picard sequel series then it would be a hard no from me. The last thing I want to see is the DS9 cast wheeled out in some poorly conceived attempt to create content for the sake of it for a streaming service.

 

I would say slim to none of a ds9 movie in any compacity. I am sorry to say .I would love to see a ds9 movie in either the small or big screen

 

I don't think it will happen and I hope it doesn't. Kurtzman has already messed with enough Trek.

 

Yup. It's so messed up I don't even watch Trek any more..

 

Maybe not a follow up, but another show set in the quadrant, I think, is possible.

 

We should recognize when a theme has been played out. Consider the latest of the Jurassic Park franchise-"Dominion." The dinosaur theme was strong enough for multiple movies (and featured in the television series "Primeval"), but at this point there is nowhere new to go with this.

Contrast this with the original Jurassic Park (1993). Back then the idea of resurrecting dinosaurs felt fresh, and made for powerful drama.

 

I'd prefer "The New Adventures of Garak and Bashir." They did that audio series, "Alone Together" and that pretty much already gave me everything I'd wanted in a DS9 reunion show. I loved hearing Sid and Andy together. I think in a new 25th Century series it would be cool to see some of the cast again or visit DS9 once or what I'd always preferred, have a Cardassian as part of the crew, even if they were only a recurring character, so that you could choose to explore the aftermath of the Dominion War and what happened with Cardassia or Bajor if you wanted but it didn't have to be the driving force of the show.

 

I have to say that I agree with somebodyX. I am sort of curious about Cardassia's status after the war.

 

Then do a Star Trek: Cardassia show. It doesn't have to be a DS9 follow up show to explore Cardassia after the war.

 

So, would that be an animated show? Or a limited live action series?
