What about the new companion?

I'd really like a strong female companion for 13 - (still hoping for Shona to make a comeback, but that will be in vain) - and play it much like a Two/Jamie combination, with the secondary companions coming in and leaving. It's such a shame that Morven Christie already played a relatively major part in an episode (unlike Freema and Karen), as it means she's unlikely to return as a new character as she would've been fantastic alongside Whittaker.

Whoever and however many, I would like the new companion/s to be stuck on the TARDIS as in the days of yore. "Part time" companions got on my nerves.

RTD said in The Writer's Tale that he regretted that in the end, since not having a regular companion during Tennant's specials was actually the most challenging part of writing them. The Doctor needs a regular companion for the very simple reason that he (or rather, she, now) needs someone to talk to.

Despite his regrets it interestingly managed to highlight the Timelord Victorius arc which effectively showed why The Doctor NEEDS companionship, something that Amy also pointed out to him.

I haven't seen anything with Kris Marshall in it other than Love Actually, where he plays someone insanely annoying. Can anyone confirm that he is not actually that annoying in other roles who also found him annoying in that movie? I hate to be judgmental, but my first gut reaction to seeing his picture (and not recognizing him from Love Actually, looked that up later on) was that this guy looks really annoying.

I think a lot of the playing The Doctor vibe came from his role in Death in Paradise. Overall bungling yet underneath still extremely sharp. Episodes are available on YouTube so you can check it out. It also includes an almost unrecognisable Danny John-Jules (Red Dwarf's cat) in the cast, and of course being a BBC production also numerous recognisable Who/Sci-Fi guest-stars.
