Were Riker and Troi having casual sex during the series?

I've been rewatching the series, and I can't help but notice that they occasionally seem to be getting it on. During "Menage a Troi," they go to Betazed on what is inarguably a date. Then in "The Loss," it's pretty clear in the last scene that Riker is going in for a kiss before Troi chastises him for his 'aristocratic' comment.

This isn't something that's ever directly addressed on screen, IIRC, but it seems pretty clear that the producers were dropping hints that they were keeping each other's beds warm.

Boom boom boom boom..............
Bang bang bang bang....
take you to (my quarters).......boom boom boom boom

As long as neither one of them was having sex with a Ferengi, I’m good with this.

Goin' by the Troi memory in TNG 'Violations' and her description of what happened between her & Will to Tom in TNG 'Second Chances', I don't think so.

Will & Deanna were intimate years & years before reunitin' on the E-D, and as such, they were probably closer friends than most folks would be, but they were just friends. Obviously, there may have been times that one or the other tried something (most likely Will, goin' by 'Violations'), but I don't think they were boffin' durin' the series.

"Casual Sex" I would imagine is something primarily done on the Holodecks.

If you just wanted to get off, who would bother trying to do a "friends with benefits" deal with anyone on the ship, when you could go to the Holodeck and replicate your ideal person to boink?

They're noticeably not real... Minuette(sp)? At least in the early days. I mean sure some people get aroused by pornographic cartoons in this day and age, but the holopeople wouldn't have been "useable" till halfway through the series after some truly deviant people had perfected the technology.

I'm wondering if they had made a "planet of the Rikers" in Up the Ladder, I'm wondering what would have drove them off world first, sharing the planet with thousands and thousands of Pulaski's or hundreds of them all needing to "uniquely" declare their undying love for Deanna?

Not thinking about this too much I hope - but would you have to mop up after you turn off the porno program?

I never thought they were at it in the series - though Troi's "I've never kissed you with a beard before" comment in Insurrection is a lie as she did in Menage A Troi

^^Minuette said she was that real...hell, if they're real enough to shoot you, they're real enough to...you know.

As for Riker and Pulaski clones getting it on...judging by the actress's appearances on TOS, I don't think a younger Pulaski is somebody that Riker would kick out of bed.

The need to "clean" the holodeck...I imagine it's accounted for. Remember, in "The Big Goodbye", they couldn't just shut off the holodeck because there was a danger of dematerializing the people inside. Apparently the malfunctioning holodeck couldn't distinguish between the people and their by-products...though you gotta wonder how Wesley knew about that....

The Holodeck replicates real stuff for the people to interact with, so it must be able to de-replicate it too?

I'm sure there was one episode where that was mentioned in regard to a glass of wine, and when Wesley got soaked and was dripping water on the floor outside the holodeck?

^Add the lipstick on Picard's face in "The Big Goodbye", the snow in "Angel One", and Moriarty's drawing of the Enterprise in "Elementary, Dear Data". Roddenberry nixed an ending to the latter episode that would have used the paper to establish after the fact that Moriarty could indeed leave the holodeck...on the basis that Picard wouldn't lie. I disagree with his reasoning, but the premise that he rejected was faulty nonetheless. It had already been established in various episodes that a normally-functioning holodeck replicated simple matter that could leave the holodeck (which is also what the Okuda/Sternbach Tecnical Manual asserts)...so the piece of paper was no proof that the malfunction in "Elementary, Dear Data" would allow the Moriarty hologram to leave the holodeck any more than Cyrus Redblock was able to.

I couldn't stand it anymore and had to look up what the hell IIRC stands for. I feel better now.
Anyway I don't think Troi and Riker were having casual sex in the series. Though they still have intimate moments here and there, and are very fond of each other, I think their relationship was too genuine to be carrying on in a casual way.
I wonder though, if this had anything to do with Riker not wanting to advance in rank, maybe subconsciously. It wasn't until he finally got his girl back that he became Captain.

I don't think Riker and Troi ever did it during the series. Before the series, yes, but they didn't really get back together in a romantic way until Insurrection. I imagine they were just good friends with a past.

The real question is, did Worf and Troi ever have sex during the series?

^ If I recall correctly it was only implied that they had in a couple of the episodes. Nothing specifically said.

I'd assume the married Worf/Troi of Parallels did.

What about the subconscious wandering of their telepathic link that they weren't boffing like the National Italian Soccer Squad in their dreams while they sleep?

There was, alas, an episode that would have dealt with Riker and Troi exploring the renewal of their relationship on the Enterprise, but it was never filmed. I did, however, get ahold of a portion of the script....

Riker: I mean, let's say we did.

Troi: What if?

Riker: Is that like the end of the world or something?

Troi: Certainly not!

Riker: Why shouldn't we be able to do that once in a while if we want to?

Troi: I know!

Riker: I mean, really, what is the big deal? We go in there. We're in there for a while. We come right back out here. It's not complicated.

Troi: It's almost stupid if we didn't!

Riker: It's moronic!

Troi: Absurd!

Riker: Of course, I guess, maybe, some little problems could arise.

Troi: Well, there are always a few.

Riker: I mean, if anything happened, and we couldn't be friends the way we are now, that would be really bad.

Troi: Devastating.

Riker: Because this is very good.

Troi: And that would be good.

Riker: That would be good too. The idea is to combine the this and the that. But this cannot be disturbed.

Troi: Yeah, we just wanna take this and add that.

Riker: But of course, we'd have to figure out a way to avoid the things that cause the little problems. Maybe some rules or something.

Troi: Huh.

Riker: For example, now, I call you whenever I'm inclined and vice versa.

Troi: Right.

Riker: But if we did that, we might feel a certain obligation to call.

Troi: Well why should that be? Oh, I have an idea, I have an idea--No calls the day after that.

Riker: Beautiful. Let's make it a rule.

Troi: All right, sir.

Riker: Now here's another little rule: When we see each other now, we retire to our separate quarters. But sometimes, when people get involved with that, they feel pressure to sleep over. When that is not really sleep. Sleep is separate from that. And I don't see why sleep got all tied up and connected with that.

Troi: Okay, okay. Rule # 2: Spending the night is optional!

Riker: Well now we're gettin' somewhere!

I dimly recall that, but Deanna was half a foot shorter, Riker was, I believe Jon Stewart described the term as "%30 more Jewy".
