Everything I get from that says Dianna Troi should be seriously pissed off at Riker. Summed up, it looks like he dumped her and the reason was--his career. Then later he side eyes her whenever he sees her with another man, although he has numerous STD (not trek into the darkness) worthy flings.

And for some reason TNG made it look like an innocent thing. 24th century humans are kinda weird
