Thank you.

Hey all. This is my first post.

By all accounts, I am a complete beginner- I only got into Star Trek in 2020. Yikes. But once I got my own Netflix account and decided to give TOS a spin...I fell completely head over heels in love with this series. I have watched all the TV shows, with the exception of Discovery. I have not watched any of the Star Trek movies, or the Next Generation movies. I would like to change that. However, I do not have the streaming services for these movies...yet. I am not really interested in the new Kelvin timeline movies. I watched one and was very underwhelmed.

Thanks for reading. But odd about not being able to select an icon until 14 days and 14 posts- but I will continue to stick around nonetheless. Cheers.

Check out your local libraries, and see if they have a streaming service. You might be able to view Trek films that way, or check out the DVDs. Also, if visiting a library, if they are selling old DVDs you can get them (Trek or other) cheap!

Hello,

I'm new to the boards and just noticed this section. I've been watching Star Trek since the 90s, although I have very few friends who like it so it will be good to have somewhere to talk about it!

Favourite series: TNG
Captain: Picard
Film: First Contact

I enjoy all of the series for different reasons (even Discovery!), but TNG / DS9 / VOY are my preferred choices. What mostly draws me to ST is its vision of the future, and an insatiable fascination with space.

See you out there.

I particularly enjoy the communist framework that society has implemented. Post scarcity, classless- there's still a state, but it was a much better version than say, the USSR. I really like that aspect of us advancing so much; in order to get to that point. I also really like the space aspect, yeah, in particular, planetary exploration and interstellar planetary travel.

Planets are neat. Also yeah- watch TOS.

Hi folks, I'm new here too, though I've been visiting to read posts on and off since...gosh...Star Trek Nemesis? Thought I'd bite the bullet and join in. I don't do a lot of forum stuff, so this is kinda terrifying and I expect to be quite clunky at it for awhile.

I grew up on the TOS films and TNG. I think my first memory of Trek is watching the Enterprise break away from space dock in ST3 whilst my dad was outside mowing the lawn on a summers evening. I've made a lot of the Trek model kits in my time, but don't have the bandwidth for it right now. I think all the Treks have brought something new and challenging to the table, which is very exciting, but that's not to say I'm enamoured with them all equally, haha.

Trek is a big part of my life, but my knowledge is fairly casual. I have 2D art skills with a smattering of 3D which I use in my day job - consequently I absolutely adore Lower Decks and the art style they went with.

Hello out there:
Newbie here. I've watched Star Trek since I was a kid. Used to have a huge collection of the novels. Still have some action figures. Never been to a convention but would love to hear about them. I'm so excited to find this forum and I'm looking forward to reading the threads.

I'm not new to the board, but I'm not sure if anyone knows anything about my Star Trek interests. TOS was before my time but one of the local stations loved to air repeats after school every weekday. Watched all of TNG, DS9 and ENT, but I don't know if I have any desire to go through them from start to finish again, although I do catch the odd episode on TV here and there. VOY was the only Trek show I could not watch all the way through and gave up on somewhere past the midpoint. Like DSC more than PIC but neither of them blow my socks off. And Lower Decks for the win!

Hello,
I'm new, been lurking a while and finally decided to join. I've watched TOS since I was a kid in the 80's, it was harder to watch then but my Uncle introduced me to it with VHS's. Then when TNG came out I felt like it was 'my' Star Trek and I was a big fan and watched as much as I could.

I've seen and own all the movies (including the new trilogy) and I own all the TOS on bluray and have a bunch of ship models. I also have a good Kirk costume and make my own Shatner/Kirk masks as a hobby (because I don't like the large mass produced masks).

Lately I've been watching Lower Decks and Discovery, and trying to figure out which bluray collections to buy. I'm interested in buying Enterprise and TNG on bluray, but every review I read of every collection says they're not good, not packaged well, or the disks have defects and some episodes don't play. It's discouraging to say the least.

I still have to watch DS9 and Voyager. DS9 I've watched some episodes of and I liked it; Voyager for some reason I just don't care for Capt Janeway (her creaky-voice annoys me), so I might never be able to get through that series, but I'll probably try again at some point.

Anyway, glad to be here, this is a good board and it's nice to see so many ST fans.

Regards,

KK

Avoid the "Brand" Star Trek cons. They were taken over by a bunch (Creation) that are only in it for your money. Look for a good general SF con.

Props and models are my things.

Thank you. I've been to a tiny general science fiction con that is about an hour from house. I really enjoyed it. The first time I went I met Nichelle Nichols and got her autograph. The next time I got Levar Burton. It was very fun.

Hi all,

Although I watched some random Star Trek episodes in the nineties I'm a fairly new Star Trek fan. I rediscovered it around three years ago and I absolutely loved it. As I had a bit more free time thanks to working from home I decided to watch every episode and movie.

So far I finished TOS, TNG, DS9, all movies and all new shows.
I'm currently enjoying watching Voyager for the first time ever :)

I also love novels and comic books and I like collecting memorabilia - I'm working on a Star Trek Stamps collection - my aim is to get every stamp ever issued. It will probably take me several years but it's a good fun. :)

In November I plan to cosplay for the first time ever at Destination Star Trek in London.

I'm super excited to join this forum and interact with other Trekkies!
Live long and prosper!

Not sure what to say here, but why not? :-)

I grew up watching TOS and then animated Trek. Movies, TNG, and pretty much followed along. Life intervened and I had a "dark ages" (like most people's hobbies), and Deep Space Nine bothered me for a lot of reasons (and still does), but I got sucked back into Star Trek when Voyager started. It didn't hurt that Janeway looks and sounds exactly like my mother, so Voyage is basically "What if my Mom was a Starfleet captain !?" (Hilarious, right ?)

Anyway, Star Trek affected me profoundly as a kid and in the end I became a Futurist. Got a few degrees along the way and have done a lot of work on cooperation, commons, sharing, technology, networks, etc. long before Teh Interwebs came along. I taught at the University of Michigan School of Information while I was studying at The Center for the Study of Complex Systems, all the while working on the global impact of technological and social change, an inevitable phase-shift in the global order called "panarchy" and a crucial first step in the evolution towards an actual Star Trek (-ish) world.

Along the way I started composing "space music" as well as reading and writing science fiction, and collecting science fiction art (since the mid 1970s). Eventually I released a CD and got online to collect more art (and there's SO much of it :-) ). And now I've finally started learning digital design software so I can make my own Star Trek art.

Got married, had kids, and did a lot of programming and web work besides teaching and lecturing and Futurist-ing. I've raised my kids on Star Trek too (with plenty of other sci-fi thrown in), and that's been invaluable. Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek's vision of a compassionate and fun future is pretty much an icon (and a nearly daily topic) in my household.

I guess that's about it. I'm delighted to be here. Sorry it took me so long, but better late than never !

Hello all! I have been a Trek fan since the mid 70's. It only came on once a week (Saturday @ 6pm) so seeing as I was the only Sci-Fi fan in my family of 7, getting that one special hour a week was very special indeed!! I have found something I like about each show but haven't gotten into Discovery or Lower Decks (yet).

My youngest son (a total McCoy fan) told me about this forum & I'm very glad he did (he's currently a lurker...go figure). I tried going onto forums when the internet was all shiny & new but it seemed if you couldn't tell which Jeffries tubes ran where or how many times Spock blinked in "Bread & Circuses" they ignored you (I'd love to be that focused but I have too many other obligations currently).

I look forward to reading through the threads in different forums, posting my opinions/observations & making some new friends along the way.

I've known a few of those and I would not want to be that focused. That way is madness.

In any case welcome aboard.

Hi lovelies! Call me Rory. I was a huge Trekkie back in high school but I fell out of Star Trek for a few years. I recently got back into it and have just finished rewatching the TOS! I'm doing my best to watch all the series, but I have a very physically demanding job and I don't have a lot of free time, so I'm quite slow. I'm currently trying to watch Lower Decks and TNG at once, but it's not working out too well for me. One day, though, I'll have them all watched!

First and foremost, I'm an artist and a writer. I've been drawing for over ten years, and while I haven't drawn much Trek since high school, I'm (once again, slowly) working on new pieces that I'm excited to share with the community! I also just passed 10,000 words in the first Star Trek fanfiction that I've written and I've still got a long way to go to finish it!

Hmmm, what else? I just got my degree in communications, my first cosplay was a medical officer, and I'm a massive Triumvirate fan!

I look forward to chatting with you all and sharing my work!
