Watching for the last time...

I'll probably never purposely watch any Voyager episodes ever again, and though I respect DS9 for being a quality production, there are only a handful of those that I would ever go out of my way to watch again.

As for the movies, my never-again list includes Insurrection, Into Darkness and maybe Nemesis.
I didn't like Nemesis either. It seemed all about this crazy Romulan clone of Picard engaging in space battles. At least TWoK had the "Genesis Dilemma" (or rather set the stage for it, it only mattered by Star Trek III) and Spock die with drama.

It's not something I'd given much thought to, but I doubt I will see Voyager or Enterprise again. I own neither series and Trek repeats are fairly rare here. I didn't enjoy either series particularly and hindsight only makes them seem more flawed. DS9 on the other hand, I recently bought on DVD and rewatched, and if anything I enjoyed it more this time around. Although the modern binge watching approach highlights tropes, reused shots and sound effects and repetitive plot elements with a clarify that weekly watching in the 90s did not!
Hey! In the Star Trek TV Series (multiple ones) we seem to mostly agree and have the same interests. We do not like Enterprise, and do like DS9. Although I liked what I saw of Voyager.
Actually, my other last experience with Star Trek was watching the two Abrams Movies (Star Trek, Into Darkness). I do not like them and will never watch them again. Though I will watch Star Trek Beyond in the movie theater first for once against my better judgement (I am not sure I will like it, but it is a new Star Trek movie, so I have to see).

Like some others on here, I would watch most of the series' again with the exception of Enterprise. However, I do not physically own the media, I simply stream them on Netflix/Hulu. I find that it often becomes cumbersome to become invested in the merchandise end of any franchise.
It's good to hold a critical eye to anything. For me, many of the episodes are kitschy, poorly written, and/or boring. However, I am a Star Trek fan because overall I appreciate the lengths that shows have gone through collectively to create an intriguing fictional universe that a person can invest one's self in. Though I am critical of Star Trek in many respects, I immerse myself in the fantasy of it all. I view each series as a product of its time and thus try not to judge any too harshly.

I decide to own physical media (CDs, Cassettes, VHS Tapes, DVDs, Blue Rays). Although my lack of that media has led me to see little of DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise (though I own all of TNG, the movies, and TOS).

It's up to personal preference for sure, but maybe you should try streaming the series via Netflix/Hulu/Amazon if you're into all of that--it makes everything much more accessible IMO.

Not everyone likes everything, not even when it comes to Star Trek, which let's face it is a broad church. When I was first into it, I religiously bought everything, books, videos, CDs the works. It's only later, following maturity, that I started to look on these things with a more critical eye, and found that some aspects of Star Trek I'm not particularly fond of. I've gradually upgraded my collection to disc from tape, but now I come to Star Trek Voyager, which I bought as it was released. And I find I have no desire to get the DVDs. But I have to get rid of the VHS tapes, I'm screaming for reclaimed storage space...

So this is my last run through of Star Trek Voyager. I've dug out the old VHS player, and I'll watch them then throw them away. And then never think of Voyager again.

Then again, I thought I'd never buy Star Trek Nemesis after watching it in the cinema, and then I wind up getting the Stardate Collection...

Have you had a last experience with a Trek franchise?
Why don't you donate them to your local library rather than have them take up space in a landfill.

The internet costs money and streaming uses a lot of that cash.
And for the paranoid among us, the idea that the powers that be could make shows we like disappear from streaming availability is enough of a reason to own a local copy in some form. Despite the rest of the series having been tamed a bit from what TOS was in the 60's, all of the series contain some ideas that could at some point be thought of as dissident or disruptive. Or, short of that, contrary to a new vision of Trek that the license holders want to present to the exclusion of the old.

(To be clear, that wasn't a dig at nuTrek. I like nuTrek. And as long as I can still watch *classic* Trek, too, me and nuTrek will get along just fine. ;) )

Libraries around here stopped taking donated VHS tapes over 10 years ago, and so did charity shops. There was one company in Bristol I think that actually dismantled VHS tapes and recycled the components, but they stopped last year because the low cost of oil killed whatever profit they could make. No-one recycles tapes anymore. Landfill is all that they can do. The best that I can do is remove the tapes from their cases, recycle the cases and the sleeves, and dump the tapes.

Video tapes either die in landfill, or live forever on e-bay

The moment the last Voyager episode signed off, that was it for me. I watched the show so I could conversant about it on this board, but it was almost unbearable. Never again.

As for Enterprise - I wouldn't mind seeing bits of the last season again, but the first three were horrible. I still haven't decided if it's worth getting the one season on DVD. Probably not.

I own TOS, TAS, TNG and DS9 on DVD.
I watch TOS episodes that I like quite often, skipping the ones I think are bad.
I watched TAS through when I got the discs, and probably won't again, except for a couple of eps I like.
Since I got the TNG discs, I've watched a few of the best eps, maybe once, and have never gone back to the discs. I'll watch a random ep if BBCA is airing one, but I find I no longer care enough to wade thru the discs for the few good eps I like.
I did a complete run through of DS9 a year or so ago, and enjoyed the hell out of it. Very low ratio of poor episodes. I may actually consider doing a full rewatch again some day, something I will never do with TNG.

Agreed--I thought DS9 was by far the most entertaining. Voyager was meh--it had some good moments, but I wanted to see Neelix get blown out of an airlock so badly.

I liked Voyager and DS9 equally but for different reasons. While I liked TNG at the time for some reason I have just never felt the need to rewatch it much except for some random favorite episodes.

I have to say that I've never really understood the hate for Neelix. I mean, sure, he was a goofy, wasted character, but that describes half the cast. I halfway think it might have something to do with his resemblance to the annoying Snarf character on Thundercats, more than anything he actually did, himself.

It kind of seems like you do understand. He is a very goofy, snarf-like creature. --But I will agree with you that other characters on VOY are pretty bad as well. I like the overall story arc though---they have a quest to accomplish and they actually end up fulfilling their ultimate goal. The series plot has an endgame in mind unlike in TOS and TNG.

So far I've watched the first three episodes of Voyager. Caretaker... poor writing, Parallax... egregious technobabble (Warp Particles girly squee), and Time and Again... reset button. And that sums up Voyager.

How would know what sums up Voyager if you've only seen three episodes? Watch the whole thing and then make a judgement.

Well... I'm the one guy, apparently, who actually liked Snarf, too. ;)

And yes, true - but they fulfill their goal in one of the most deus ex machina ways possible. Which might have been understandable if they had been cancelled a season or two early and had to rush an ending - but they made their expected 7 years, so one would think there would have been a little more evidence of a story arc to build to the payoff. Someone was asleep at the wheel, and people were phoning a lot in.

I've seen it three times already, once on TV and twice on these videos. If you look back at my opening post, this is my ceremonial goodbye to the tapes, one last watch before I dump them.

"I planned to stab you, then electroshock you, then poke you in the eyes repeatedly, then waterboard you, and then set you on fire. How can you know what will sum up the whole experience and make a judgment if you've only let me stab you so far?" ;)
