Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

I know my avatar makes my bias known, but I'm hoping for Teen Titans at some point, and I am pretty salted about Cyborg getting snatched by the Justice League.

For a cinematic Teen Titans I like the following possibilities the most (partly because these characters would be pretty snazzy in live action)

Knightwing

Cyborg (or Static if Cyborg is out)

Supergirl (Starfire would look pretty stupid in live action imo & Superboy might confuse casuals)

Kid Flash or Impulse

Beast Boy

Raven I'm not sure about, that character could get really annoying if played wrong. Maybe Ravager(Rose) instead.

Arsenal (Speedy) - I personally think bow/arrow heroes are pretty lame, but Arsenal is an exception.

Blue Beetle

In a world where guardians of the Galaxy exists, having an orange alien with green eyes really isn't something I think would look stupid in live action. Sure, they couldn't do the weird "hair grows behind her as a trail when she flies" thing, but besides that Starfire would be fine in live action.

I don't see why Starfire couldn't work in live action. Sure, she'd need a more practical costume, but she's had that in animation and some recent comics already. And her weird "hair turning into a trail of smoke" effect (seriously, I've been wondering for decades how that's supposed to work) wouldn't translate to the screen, but they didn't use it in the animated series, or really, any screen version of Starfire that I've seen. So I don't see a problem with the character.

Well, any character can work I guess. Starfire is a character you have to do a lot of work on to keep her from being ridiculous. She's a giant Oompa Loompa with green fire powers. That's why I was thinking it might be better to use Supergirl, who has more or less the same power type & just looks like a human.

I wonder if its just a "producer in name only" thing that people like Stan Lee sometimes get on movies, or if he's actually got a voice in producing the movie. I hope he's an active producer, if only because I think he's probably got better ideas then the existing people.

By that logic Gamora is just a giant piece of broccoli who is good at punching people, and Drax is a diseased apple or green pepper. Its 2016, colorful aliens are basically accepted at this point.

Well Affleck is writing and directing his own Batman movie. He also did Argo and The Town at WB, so he's got pull to make things happen his way.

I don't know, people keep bringing up GoG as proof that any crazy nonsense is going to work, but I'm not sure how true that is. GoG took place almost entirely in a whimsical alien setting, and almost every character fit in that sort of world. Maybe if they go that route they can make all the wacky characters fit in, but WB is going for a darker, earthier cinematic style. If they want to do a DC version of GoG, they should use Doom Patrol or Metal Men, something like that.

You will want to keep an eye on how his credit reads. If he was an active producer, it will say Produced by Ben Affleck, p.g.a. The definition for getting the p.g.a. "Producer's Mark" is: "Signifies having met the Guild's standard of having undertaken a majority of producing duties on a motion picture." Without that, he's a producer in name only.

What about the X-Men movies? Mystique, Nightcrawler, and Beast are all blue. Colossus turns into living steel.

And it's not like orange skin is all that far off from a human shade. Hell, Donald Trump is orange, although admittedly he's not a good template for a convincing-looking human being.

For the Teen Titans? It doesn't make sense to assume they'd insist on a uniform, unvarying style for every movie in the franchise. Marvel doesn't. GotG and Civil War certainly don't have the same tone. Neither do Deadpool and Apocalypse, for that matter. The whole point of doing a multi-series franchise is to be able to do a range of different things.

Starfire's skin tone in the comics isn't supposed to look that "off" by human standards. She can walk around with shades on and people treat her as human.

As for Affleck, I would not be surprised if Snyder gets the boot and Ben takes over. It would be a good choice too.

Take over the whole shebang? That's a tall order unless Affleck wants to set aside acting for some time (beyond the Batman/Wayne role).

It's always Starfire's green eyes that give her away. It's why she always wears sunglasses in public. This of course, was back when she wanted to maintain a secret identity.
