Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

she stole the Doomsday fight.
I don't disagree, but it wasn't hard. Bats mostly jumps out of the way a lot (understandably so) and Superman takes off for a while to chat with Lois. ;)

Why was "America" so quick to nuke the fight anyway? Superman was sort of winning, taking Doomsday off into space until they blew his shit up. Whoever OK'd that nuke is a grade-A chooch.

I imagine the fresh memory of a less fearsome Kryptonian, already an extinction level threat, might have motivated the powers that be to invoke the nuclear option sooner rather than later.

Because Zack Snyder doesn't truck with the wimps who don't want Batman to be prison-raped and Superman nuked in their comic-book entertainments.

Probably the same circle of people who thought it was a good idea to nuke NYC in Avengers.

To be fair, those guys were being manipulated by Hydra.

Indeed, Agents of SHIELD has revealed that the specific councillor who ordered the bombing (Powers Boothe's character, identified in the show as Gideon Malick) was himself the true head of Hydra, or at least the current head of its oldest branch.

Wait. Is that link for real? Not an April fools thing?
Why would WB entrust him with the vision of their movie universe?!?!?! How can anyone defend his vision of Superman when he clearly has zero love for the character and what he represents. This is totally baffling.

The difference between DC movies and Marvel movies is that Marvel makes its own movies and focuses pretty exclusively on them, but DC is just one of the many properties that Warner Bros. owns. So the connection to the source material isn't as strong or respectful. They're concerned about the bottom line, and Superman has not been a particularly successful movie character for decades, so they're not as invested in Superman as they are in a marketable filmmaker like Snyder. Their view is "This guy's done some comic-book movies that did well, so let's give him more comic-book movies," never mind whether the characters and subject matter are anything like what he's done before.

^^
I can get behind the idea they're making money, it's the only reason they do this, really.
But they could actually get MORE if they, I dunno, maybe hired someone that was passionate about the characters and could at least figure out what makes the characters as loved as they are and build from that.

This movie should have been crazy huge. Instead of being behind even Zootopia this year!

Sure, but that's how rational human beings think. We're talking about movie studio executives.

To be fair, those guys were being manipulated by Hydra. Although, who knows, maybe Lex had a plant in the military, too.

Sure, but that's a retcon to beef up Hydra. As presented, it's no different than in BvS. If anything it's worse - the World Security Council willing to sacrifice the entirety of New York City, as opposed to nuking Superman/Doomsday in space.

That article is flat out lying and misrepresenting his words in order to discredit him.
Not liking Snyder's films is fine, but these manipulative attempts to discredit him I find absolutely disgusting.

I would say read the original interview for the context of what he was talking about, but what's the point?
Are any of you even remotely willing to accept any point of view that doesn't think Zack Snyder is the personification of Satan who hates Superman?

You mean the article that has him worried Marvel is going to make a Captain America movie/franchise?

"The Marvel universe has gone nuts; we’re going to have a fricking Captain America movie if we’re not careful."

Imagine that. Eventually, giving us an awful Winter Soldier movie!! Then a Civil War! If we're not careful, they might make money too! Superman, in tone, is similar to Captain America. And that one statement says so much.

The article paints him even worse in his superficial ways and proud of how dark he can take his "heroes". Please. Tell us the proper context for him admitting he didn't get superhero comics when he said ”No one is having sex or killing each other. This isn’t really doing it for me.

Link, please? Unless you can disprove Gaith's link the WB executives have their heads shoved further up their colons than I previously thought. And it proves that Snyder is completely the wrong director for these movies to begin with.

Way to prove you're open to other opinions dude!

That particular quote is him taking about his teenage years in a boarding school talking to his teenage buddies.
Not how he feels about comic books right now.

Here's the actual full quote:
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: First 300, now Watchmen — have you always been a comics fan?

ZACK SNYDER: I came to comic books through my mother. I loved fantasy art — I love Frank Frazetta [the famed illustrator known for adult-oriented, sword-and-sorcery, and sci-fi imagery]. I went to boarding school. You weren’t allowed too many posters up, and everything I set up was slightly inappropriate. Frazetta’s naked girls, ripped up guys — the kids were like, ”What the hell?!” They had their Boy George posters up, I had crazy Frazetta. My mother saw I was into this comic called Heavy Metal magazine, so she got me a subscription. You could call it ”high-brow” comics, but to me, that comic book was just pretty sexy! I had a buddy who tried getting me into ”normal” comic books, but I was all like, ”No one is having sex or killing each other. This isn’t really doing it for me.” I was a little broken, that way. So when Watchmen came along, I was, ”This is more my scene.”

The whole interview itself was 8 years ago promoting Watchmen, you know, the comic book with a bit of sex and violence, so yeah god forbid he talk about the edgier aspects of comic books...

Here's the original article:

I read and comprehend the article.I know it's from his teenage years. Nothing he's shown on screen shows that he's changed his views any. Which is why it still applies. Open mind or not, his quotes and his actions are very much in sync.

And 8 years ago, it was him who didn't have an open mind about an upcoming Captain America movie.

Look where we are now...
