Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

^ Pretty sure Wonder Woman 2 is more than "wishful thinking" at this late stage. Have to agree, however, that everything less advanced in actual preproduction could fall apart at any moment. They don't have a very impressive percentage record so far of getting DCEU movies past the "talking out of our ass" phase.

Wonder Woman 2 is a safe bet, but I won't consider it 100% safe until it actually starts filming with the whole AT&T and WB merger thing going on.

When a movie starts filming they are pretty much locked to get released with so much money spent already, WW isn't quite there yet.

I will give DC this: they always find a way to get worse. Going past rock bottom is the one thing the DCEU is good at. If nothing else, this really makes Wonder Woman even more special for being the one movie the DCEU didn't mess up. I'm thinking it will be the next Supergirl or Steel, a bad movie that comes out, bombs and is mostly forgotten by anyone who isn't a big comic fan. Not a memorable crap movie like Catwoman, just a plain bad movie. At most, maybe it will make history by beating Man of Steel for product placement (that pic just screams "insert your brand here").

Then again, I say that but with my luck it will be the superhero version of Transformers and make a ton of money even though its trash.

Only those movies being filmed or those finished filming are actually getting released (Aquaman, Shazam).

Everything else is just wishful thinking by DC right now.

How far along are they on Suicide Squad 2?

Is this just to keep Leto happy?! Because I remember him being pretty pissed when Scorsese's Joker origin movie was announced.

Assuming this ever actually happens (and doesn't just vanish like smoke, in the manner of most mooted DCEU projects), I'd be OK with it. Thought Leto's Joker was just fine in SS.

Mind you I also thought Ledger's version was wildly overrated, plus I don't really give a shit about the Joker in general, so what do I know?

Even aside from how underwhelming I found Leto as the Joker (or as the guy in Blade Runner 2049, for that matter), I don't know if it's a good idea to build a movie around the Joker. He's the quintessential villain, the unstoppable antagonist for the hero to fight. What can you really do with him as a solo character? Just show him being evil and killing a bunch of people? Where's the story?

Well, unless they did an adaptation of that Batman: White Knight thing I've heard about, an Elseworlds-ish thing where the Joker becomes sane and heroic while Batman goes off the rails. But that's still a Batman-vs.-Joker story with the alignments flipped, rather than just a Joker story.

^ Leto's Joker is, in spite of his protestations to the contrary, the first iteration of the character to be genuinely in love with Harley; showing how that happened, as well as delving into his backstory and the things that turned him into who he is, is, IMO, more than compelling enough to inspire a full-length feature.
