They are all about items that have developed some kind of supernatural ability. If fantasy isn't your forte, you might want to take a pass.
I think it gets slightly better as it goes on and the characters develop a bit more, but, yeah, it's pretty much just a fantasy show about magical items and the people (and agency) who hunt them down.
OKay, I'm biased, having spent the last three months writing a WH13 novel, but it's a really fun show with appealing characters and a nicely offbeat sense of humor.
And, if you like scifi, did I mention that H. G. Wells is a recurring character in the second season?

No, it's also fiction.
It's a fun popcorn show with some good actors and characters along with some good humor. And it's got nice eye candy. Joanne Kelly is nice to look at.
I like Warehouse 13 because of the characters, especially Artie. The plots are a bit silly and sometimes a bit heavy with the cheese (see the Christmas episode) but I enjoy it just the same.
It's very similar in style and tone to Eureka, I think. It's very episodic in nature (instead of it always being an experiment gone awry, it's an artifact) but the characters are fun and very likable.

Its enjoyable enough when I'm bored. But it is too light, fluffy, and episodic for me to really make a point of seeing every episode.

W13 is the first show I recall that feels to me like it targets Generation Y (i.e. people born in the early to mid 80's who were teenagers in the 90's). I can't really pin down why off hand (maybe it's the lingo or the attitudes), but it feels different than most shows out there.
I love Warehouse 13. My only complaint is that I wish it was more based in science than in fantasy artifacts that can't be explained by science (especially the whole Warehouse caretaker bond crap they introduced at the end of season 2), but the characters alone make it one of my favourite shows.
It's definitely made with a more mainstream audience in mind, and the CG is marginal at best, but the cast is perfect, and the tone of the show really reminds me of classic SG-1 (there are many parallels).
The show definitely gets better once Claudia joins the cast. The first episodes were alright, but nothing special. I think "Where and When" really sums up what the show is about. It's a fairly accessible and light-hearted fantasy/scifi show that focuses more on characters, and the show has a lot of heart. Just don't expect to satisfy your scifi addiction with it! But That doesn't make it any less of a show imo.

The next episode is only slightly better than the first episode. Since it's so episodic, it won't hurt continuity to watch a random better episode.

My favorite first season episode is "Breakdown." Killer dodge balls, silly string, the Dark Vault, Sylvia Plath's typewriter, the first appearance of the Regents, etc. And lots of zippy Claudia goodness . . . .

Judging a genre show on the basis of the first few eps is always tricky. Hell, Next Generation didn't get consistently good until its third season!

This is why I always watch a recent episode of a show when I'm getting into it, rather than starting from the first episode. Incidentally, I did this with Warehouse 13, with my first episode being a season 2 ep.
First episodes are often shaky at the best of times, especially in scifi where there's so much more to establish.
speaking of Eureka, both shows take place in the same fictional universe. They've both done crossover episodes (Claudia went to Eureka, and Fargo went to the Warehouse)
