Voyager ending

Chakotay is a plank of wood.
Given his size, I'd say he's a log.
Tom is a manchild.
I know manchildren, having been one for much of my adult life. Tom isn't one.
Harry is a winy baby.
What kind of wine does he imbibe?
(because "whiny" has an H in it)
Neelix is a creepy Pedo.
Creepy, yes. Pedo, no.
The Doctor is a pretentious bore.
Well, yeah.
Tuvok is... Actually, he's a class act all day long.
Tuvok is so awesome, you can combine him with Neelix and he'll remain cool.
In Counterpoint Janeway said that she can do any thing she wants, and then get found innocent at trial from men who are her father's best friends, so she is untouchable.
Even in the future, it's all about who you know.

Well, I guess everybody wanted the Voyager to get back home.
The question or problem is...HOW? ;)

So, again, there’s no correlation between the two events.

Korath was given a seat on the Klingon High Council in exchange for his "time machine".

The High Council are a bunch of money grubbing greedy glad handing politicians according to season 4 TNG.

"Individual" humans don't have money, so where did Admiral Janeway get all that cash to buy a seat on the High Council?

Of course, this is putting the horse before the cart. She's trading jail time for a time machine, rather then finding a time machine to avoid jail time. which is far more heroic than I prefer.

The reason I call this a complaint? This plan effectively turned assimilation, which was always seen as an extremely horrifying, invasive, traumatic experience, into just another day at the office. In one move, this made the trauma and pain that Seven and Picard went through seem meaningless. (And every other former Borg, for that matter.) And doing this against a TACTICAL cube... this was truly the final nail in the coffin for defanging the Borg completely. You cannot take the Borg seriously as a threat after this.
I have a problem with that, too.

However, if I had to reconcile it using some headcanon, I'd say that 7 of 9's Borg inside know-how provided to the EMH helped immensely in that operation (especially in how to revert assimilation, but perhaps also in helping the EMH finding protective treatments to make the assimilation process less traumatic).

Well, I guess everybody wanted the Voyager to get back home.

I guess so. Having the ship blow up in the last shot (without them reaching home), or getting them caught in a time loop that brings them all the way back to moments after the Array was destroyed, would have been slightly unsatisfactory after seven years of watching the show.

I don't recall money being involved. For all we know she just put in a good word for him, or maybe she saved the life of the Chancellor and he owed her a favor?

Rom allowed Corruption.

Martok honored dishonorable painful debts that stained the Empire.

Not that either of these men may have still been in office by the 25th Century.

TORRES: The High Council had a lot of questions.
JANEWAY: What did you tell them?
TORRES: The truth, with a Klingon twist. I told them that my beloved former captain, who had saved my life many times in glorious battle, would be honoured to submit Korath's House for consideration.
JANEWAY: Do you think it will work?
TORRES: I'm just the Federation liaison, but I'd like to think I have some influence. You still haven't told me why you're trying to help Korath.
JANEWAY: He's an old friend.

Which is weird since Miral said that she had been working on the deal to buy a time machine for 6 months.

She never said anything about buying it.

Neither did I.

I pivoted when I face planted into a fact.

It's weird that Korvath has been asking for that seat for 6 months, meanwhile B'Elanna only asked for it hours ago, but Miral only just confirmed that the time machine worked.

Kathryn Janeway is the Chuck Frickin' Norris of Star Trek. That means that even in a society that doesn't use money, she's still considered a billionaire.

I don't think the Federation, or at least every member world, is in fact entirely money-less. The exchange of something for goods still takes place as we've seen on many occasions. Typically that something is of value; gold pressed latinum, a mineral like dilithium, etc. Starfleet certainly doesn't seem to pay monetarily as people are enlisted, though they must have some kind of retirement program in place for their officers depending on the world they're living on. Starfleet officers do seem to acquire a form of clout in the general galaxy at large though in the course of their duties. Something Janeway clearly spent a great deal of in acquiring the time device.

The Ferengi are not members of the Federation.

Federation Credits seems to be about the Aliens using Federation resources, or Federation citizens using Alien resources. Archer needed cash once, and had to strip the platinum from their plumbing to make ends meet.

The Trill seem to use money.

Humans do not.

So Captain Sisko did not charge Quark rent (SISKO: Maybe I don't know much about Ferengi culture but I do know who holds the lease on your bar.
QUARK: The Federation. And I couldn't ask for better landlords.
SISKO: That's because we don't ask you to pay your rent, or to reimburse us for your maintenance repairs, or the drain on the station's power supply.
QUARK: You're a very generous people. The Bar Association.) but Captain Dax would have?

Captain Janeway in the Delta Quadrant could kindly and politely ask for "things" because any new Alien culture thinking about being less than generous to these weird well armed drifters could see that her ship had 78 photon torpedoes set to leave a planet cursed and frakked, or open their ship's hull to space 78 times, venting crew.

Admiral Janeway may have expected that same kindness to persist, even without the low level threat at her claw tips to destroy worlds, but that's because she comes from a happy planet and doesn't quite understand, or forgets, what it's like to go without a meal to keep the heat on.

Uchhh... that is certainly true. Especially with poor Harry. The show proper stubbornly kept him at ensign for all seven years. And the finale showed that he had finally been promoted... only to erase that future and reduce him to ensign again. Quite possibly forever, in light of the status of the three TNG era nu Treks.
Harry Kim is alive and promoted and there are 50 of him!

Garret Wang shared the trailer on his X account.

Stop looking for problems that don't exist.

It's who she is.

You know . . . you haven't really convinced me to change my mind. I still think the TREK fandom is basically sexist and hypocritical.

That's why I like her.
So you'd rather have Janeway be found innocent of any potential wrongdoings just because of who she knows, rather than be found innocent based on the facts presented by witnesses, log entries, etc.?

Honestly, that's casting her in a bad light because none of the other captains (with the possible exception of Archer because of his long friendship with Admiral Forrest, but there were times when even he came down on Archer) had that kind of advantage. At least, not mentioned by them. They possibly had an admiral here or there as an ally, but they never once threw that fact in anyone's face.

It's basically saying she needs that kind of 'cheat code' to be cleared instead of letting her own decisions and actions stand by their own merit.

Harry Kim spoiler... if you haven't seen the trailer, proceed with care.
Well, I'm glad to see that Garrett Wang gets to be on "Lower Decks"... I think that's the show he wanted to be on. He even came up with a pretty decent plot line for putting himself in it, awhile back. And having him be a full LT makes sense. Once his character passed out of the hands of the incompetents who ran VOY, he would be promoted realistically, and his service duration and quality would rate a two-rank boost.

I got the sense, at one point, that the reason the powers that be didn't want to feature Harry was that some viewers took a sadistic pleasure in his permanent ensignhood, while others hated it. By having him return, they were going to snap someone's garters. But by throwing a bunch of Harry clones at us, some promoted and some not, they can at least try to placate both sides.
