Yeah, Yeah, that's right. I forget that they aren't consistent. And the sequel "2010" was written based on the movie. Jupiter becomes the star. In neither book nor film does saturn become a star.
Yeah I forgot about that too, I was going off of the book 2001. Damn.Yeah, Yeah, that's right. I forget that they aren't consistent. And the sequel "2010" was written based on the movie. Jupiter becomes the star. In neither book nor film does saturn become a star.

That's a good idea. That would make it look like a jet engine, wouldn't it?An idea from out of left field perhaps, but, I wonder if the deflector disk itself spins...hard to tell in the pic with all the other motion blurs, but this may account for the person who saw the clip reporting 2 nacelles.
(And the concensus seems to be they aren't both nacelles, right?)
All we've seen previously were fixed metal dishes, and fixed glowing slotted backlit things.
Also, looking at the battle-damage pic, the black part of the registry appears to be mirror-reflective...maybe that's just my old eyes, though.
Ha!Feh! You are BOTH wrong. HAL was the one who became the star!
Great! So, how close is it really, otherwise? I'd love to get hold of that model.I've seen production art featuring the Kelvin now. The pic quoted at the top of this page confused me, I was going to correct it until I saw your later renders. You've done a pretty good job with the secondary hull (shuttlebay doors could be slightly bigger though).
There's a small model Kirk has of the Kelvin that's missing the secondary hull (the neck is still present). A feature of the class, or did he break it?![]()

How close are the Nacelles compared to the new Enterprise's? Mine are alot more traditional, I know.
Thanks for the info!

Wonderful design work.Nah, the moon is just REALLY Bright in the future. Too much atomic waste from the mid 21st century. And one more, before I turn in...

Take it easy, everybody.

OK, this shot is awesome, though based on the conflicting shadow directions on the 2 ships, I have to conclude that in the future earth is in a double star system!

I don't know, it's supposed to be a little older ship, so I may leave it alone.Consider tweaking the Kelvin to give it a more new "E" nacelle?
That looks good. The Nacelle could be a bit longer, but otherwise it looks great.I created a version of Kelvin based on the new Enterprise components. Of course it isn't the same style but retains the basic shape.
