USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Because that's the original TOS arrowhead design or a very close approximation of it. One of the retro TOS things about the DSC Enterprise that the producers got right.
yes i know but then why does disc and other starfeet have the arrow head from tmp as standard

I really want to know the answer to this question, because they seemed to be going back-and-forth between TOS and TMP-style markings on the ships up to the moment "The Vulcan Hello" was locked. Not only are there shots in trailers of the Europa with TOS markings, there's even a shot in the episode of the Shenzhou with them. I think the block letters, racing stripes, and red nacelle domes, along with the brighter, less paneled hull coloring seen in some pre-production art, do a lot to set the DSC ships into the TOS era.

Possibly newer built ships? Differing sub-commands among Starfleet? Somebody painted the wrong logo on the Enterprise and budget cuts didn't allow for it to be fixed?

Never seen anything like this on Star Trek before. If it's good enough for canon, good enough for my new avatar <--- :)

Because "cool," "cute" and "it'll look neat."

That's it.
And Star Trek needs to sell toys like Star Wars, I'm sure some mandate from heads in charge of marketing. "You want same budget or higher next year? Figure out how to add some toy stuff into Discovery"

Seriously, I am kinda of surprised we haven't seen any tie-in merchandise with these robots yet.

So those bots are why USS Voyager looks so clear even after seven years of being away from home and getting massively beat up a few times? (as oppose to how USS Enterprise looked when she got back to Spacedock after her fight with Khan).

i'd happily add one of these lil dudes to my desk next to the worker bee. but aside from eaglemoss' output and QMX's badges, we haven't seen any tie-in merch for discovery of substance.

and it's a damn crime.

It's all coming together.

Not even the fans buy Star Trek toys, so I'm not sure what you mean. The ST09 toy line bombed, and although McFarlane bought the Trek licence, including Discovery, all they produced were two figures of Kirk and Picard. The promised Spock and Burnham figures have disappeared down a wormhole...

And to be fair, even Star Wars doesn't shift toys like it used to.

Eaglemoss might do the repair drones, but they aren't really toys. They've got a whole dedicated line of Discovery ship models.

My son is 10 and LOOOOVES Star Trek and he would never play with Trek toys. Action figures aren’t anywhere near as popular as they once were. It’s a big reason why Toys R Us is gone.

Sean Watson posted some set pics on Instagram, including a close-up of the Enterprise dedication plaque. Click!

Cool pics. A bit disappointed they went with TNG's politically correct "Where no one has gone before" though.

Would be interesting to read the whole plaque. I can make out Starfleet Command, Yard Engineers, and Eugene Roddenberry, plus a bunch of names with first initial and last name....

I wouldn’t be surprised if the names were identical to the Shenzhou and Discovery plaques.

Though, now that I think of it, it’s probably updated to include new Season 2 people.
