USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

I found it interesting that, according to the pictures in the Eaglemoss book, the Enterprise shuttlebay was very closely modeled after the TOS version, and when we saw inside it in tonight's episode, the lights were all out, and the only detail you could see was a barely-there reflection in the windows of the upper-level control room. Reminds me of a tweet I saw joking about how the person who 3D modeled future Las Vegas in Blade Runner 2049 must've felt when they saw the movie and the entire thing was socked in with yellow haze and you couldn't see a tenth of what was there.
Also, we now know where the briefing room is; centerline on the saucer, about a quarter of the way from the rim towards the bridge. Congratulations to all the people through the years who have argued that all the windows we see inside ships don't perfectly match the studio model because they're holographic displays that are set to show an illusion of space, and that unless we specifically see the camera fly into a room from outside, it's probably not a real window. Your day of vindication has arrived.

Since that torpedo took out a good chunk of the bow of the saucer section, a lot of the internals of 1701 were rebuilt after the battle with Control
And we finally saw the long-awaited dorsal phaser banks!
Section 31 photon torpedoes are enormous - about the same size as the Khan weapons in Into Darkness.
I just noticed that Georgiou has a different sidearm too - very similar to the TFF/TUC phasers.

No I mean where it was lodged. The conference room has windows, but the torpedo was too far into the saucer for that to work.

Georgiou said they had 200 ships. Even with both Discovery and Enterprise, I have no idea where they all were being stored. These ships have to be bigger than the Abramsverse versions.
Makes it even odder that the Enterprise had no auxiliary craft to rescue poor Sulu and company in "The Enemy Within".
I took the "200 ships" comment to mean all of Starfleet, not their shuttles and fighters.
Even now after a full season, I think I'm in the minority that doesn't like the DSC Enterprise. It's just a bizarre Frankenstein of NX-01, TOS, and Refit. All crammed together when they really don't go well together.
I understand the need to modernize the design, and that's the problem. They didn't modernize it enough. It still has some seriously outdated shapes and design elements that look ridiculous next to DSC's other ships.
I like the bridge, though. Except, again, the chairs which look laughably out of place on such a modernized design.

The thing is, design is an artistic choice. Only actual functional advantages (such as a wider viewscreen) give meaning to the word advanced. (And that wider screen is literally the only advantage functionally the DISC bridge has. And even that theoretically could be a disadvantage as it's an actual window that presumably an alien could look through with magnification).
To an actual alien who knows nothing about Earth fashion, the TOS bridge could look just as advanced if not more so than the DISC one. We don't see that because we're influenced by Earth fashions.
And remember, supposedly the Federation is composed of many aliens.
I tend to agree with all of this.
I don't dislike all the specifics of the STDPrise that much - what I dislike most about it, as I've ranted more than once, is that it looks like an under-thought quickie take on streamlining the ship - using the same cues you can find in a lot of redesigns done by CG artists and hobbyists over the last couple of decades - and a number of those do it more gracefully and are more imaginative in detail.
I won't get into what constitutes "modernized" - I'd rather the Enterprise look like the STDPrise than like STD's other ships, which may be better worked out but are mostly just generic and unattractive. Hopefully Trek will evolve away from them.
Oh, and I love the Burke chairs. Not as fond of the jelly-bean buttons or the banks of red/yellow/green winkie-blinkies ranged impractically high around the bridge perimeter.
I hate that bright gold dish and those bright red nacelle caps. And the overall blandness of the design.
So you must hate most Fed ships then.
It's more of a tarnished copper, and they've done quite a bit with the internal lighting of the caps that is distinct from TOS.
Generally I like the TOS Enterprise better than all that followed it, although the TMP version refined and balanced the shapes better.
Nah, the Kelvin ships fixed those issues.
