USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

That's OK, I've already been to the future and have seen your comments. However, I'm all about preserving the timeline, so don't ask me what you said.

I don't need to go forward in time to know you'll be slathering on the love. :p

I would hardly call fan re-designs "spam". They are having their fun and I say let them do it. A lot of the work is interesting. So, they're not all "great". So what? Isn't that what IDIC is all about? And....opinions differ. What is hideous to one person may not be to another. Let's not have a lot of Apollos sitting up there on Mount Olympus and looking down in judgment. It will get far too crowded up there. :D

I agree. Everything should do what he likes to, and it's actually pretty great for people that do invest the time to actually show off their work!

That being said, I have noticed that - especially as far as fan re-vamps of the original Enterprise are concerned - pretty much 90% of all of them fall into the same traps: TNG-era, dark grey hull plating, the refit-like widening pylons, added blue lighning stripes on the nacelles. And specifically most of them flaten the elegant lines and curves of the ship, to more straight curves or angles. Gone is the sinus-shape, in favour of a boring straight up ramp. And all of them thicken the neck, add that redit-style photon torpedo launcher, and get rid of the iconic neck shape that widens up from top to bottom.

And blody hell - the Disco-prise uses literally almost ALL of these useless updates! All of which don't really add anything to the original design - the only thing they do, is nudge it closer to the look of the starships of later Trek series. That's really disappointing.

Fair enough....I guess I'm one of those who find something to like, most of the time. :D

All they've done with the Enterprise in this series is nudge it closer to the TMP Enterprise, which makes perfect sense all things considered. A refit doesn't completely reshape a vessel.

If the Klingon War were erased from the timeline I wouldn't miss it at all. L'Rell and Voq/Ash can still exist without the war as a narrative background and with Trek time travel mumbo jumbo they wouldn't change whatsoever and still retain their current positions as Chancellor and Section 31 operative.

ethan peck posted some photos on IG of the unfinished re-dress of discovery's corridor into the enterprise corridor:

kind of wish they'd stopped here and not put in the 1960's grills, but still a cool update... (de-update?)
It's easier to see under this light the orange cast of "Enterprise Red."

Even if that were true, there'd be nothing objectionable about it.

Hate a TV show? Heaven forbid. Next someone will be hating on broccoli, or calamari, or pumpkin spice lattes and where will that lead?

Best get the kids inside, Ma.
Did I say objectionable?

It's just highly confusing.

The rest is just hyperbole.
