USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

I've always liked this shot:

Yes, they said that. Maybe it's lenses or shot angles, but it certainly looked in TOS like Kirk could reach out while standing in the pit and touch the people working the perimeter while in DSC it looks like there's no way in heck that could happen. It looks like an awful lot of floor space between the outer stations and the railing, but maybe that's just because the floor is so reflective, trick of the eye and all that.

The new version definitely seems bigger.

I really don't believe that it is the same size, even ignoring the corridor. The distance between the inner circle and the outer consoles seems significantly larger and the inner circle is probably somewhat larger as well. I'd love to see a blueprint of this.

One's an historic replica and the other is a contemporary set in current use. Different applications; apple's and oranges.

Exactly. One mustn't confuse something made for nostalgia purposes and something made for general consumption. You might think the Commodore 64 was a great computer, and a replica could be cool for a niche market, but it won't be a mass-market product sold as a modern machine.
