USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

The Enterprise is also definitely smaller than Discovery, which is nice to have confirmed onscreen with the ships alongside one another.

Looks just like some of the photos I saw and tried to describe to you people. Red, grey, large view screen and very retro (especially the chairs). Can't wait for everyone to see the rest of it.

And yes like I mentioned it is a totally new build and for the first time made out of mostly metal and not wood (Like very other set ever)

Seems its not retro enough for some people. I like it.

Is it just me, or are the pylons different on the on-set graphics to the external shots? They appear thinner (not bifurcated) and only slightly angled back. It doesn't even match the concept art used on-set in "Brother"

besides number one, Pike, and Spock, I wonder if we will see any other named Enterprise crew like Chief Engineer Louvier Mentioned in "An Obol for Charon", or a recast Philip Boyce if he's still CMO around this time or if he retired. Wonder if we'll see any characters from the Discovery novels like Datlow or Yoshi Ohara also make an appearance.

I'm hoping we get to meet Dr Puri or Helmsman McKenna, who were both namedropped as being on Pike's crew in ST'09. But I guess its extremely unlikely because they'd probably need permissions from Paramount. And they already have a different engineer to Olsen.

Bridge!

Oh, more more more more more more more!

From what I've seen I don't like it. There are too many small lights EVERYWHERE. Why does viewscreen have red strip (light) around it? There are lights in the railings, lights in the steps, in the screens, in the floor, ceiling...

It looks like the little triangles are missing from the Burke chairs, even though they've given them the black toppers and painted legs that weren't there in Pike's time. I wonder if they just forgot.

I'm still taking in what I think about the look of the bridge. Adapting the TOS Look into the Disco Look is tough to do, if that's the goal thrust upon someone, anyone. Taking that into account, I think they did a good job. If you think it sounds like there's a "but...", you're right. I generally prefer a blending of two styles to come across looking as if it were one. The TFF bridge does this. It looks like a TNG version of the TOS bridge but it comes across to me as one thing. The Disco Bridge, from the angle I see, looks like a TOS/DSC mash-up. It comes across as two things.

I wonder what people here who aren't TOS fans think of what we've seen of the bridge so far?

I wish folks would get the idea that CBS can't use anything TREK, without getting someone else's permission OUT OF THEIR HEADS!

CBS OWNS IT ALL!

Paramount is now a LICENSEE of CBS and gets Partial Royalties on the movies up to Nemesis and Paramount pays CBS for the use of TREK in the Kelvin Movies.

The excessive amount of lights is the one thing I don't like about it, otherwise it looks cool. I hope that all the red lights are just for the red alert, and are not normally on.

I think they still have to pay residuals to Kurtzman and Orci for reuse of characters they created, but as you mentioned wouldn't need their permission to use them.

Do you have a source saying Paramount pays CBS? Because this isn't like Sony and Marvel at all.

And of course, it's more complicated than they let on.

So... Pike's Enterprise crew is 200ish and Discovery's crew is 200ish and Kirk's Enterprise is 400ish. Discuss, lol.

If I were them, I wouldn't mind taking a second bite at the apple of casting "José Tyler" as being a little less white-bread, just like I would've relished the opportunity to bring back Khan played by someone of Indian descent.

I think you're on to something, here. The perimeter consoles look like they do a good job splitting the difference (though I'm not hot on the rainbow pseudo-controls at the very top), and the steps and railing seem good. The helm console seems really self-consiously retro, though. And small, compared to how much larger the rest of the bridge looks. It reminds me of something from an old fan-film, or a traveling Trek attraction.

That might be Tyler at the navigation console in the teaser. The hair's not blonde or dirty blonde but hey, three years after "The Cage(TOS)" and hair colors change. ;)
