NX-01 didn't look more modern than the Defiant.
Don't speak for me. I don't feel nostalgic about TOS, but I agree the Defiant looks more advanced.Everyone without TOS nostalgia objectively sees it.

I'd decorate my room like that if I had the space. The epitome of Modern and....Dated

And the NX-01 did not look more advanced then the Defiant.
Was it?This is why visual reboot was needed.
Some shots it works. Some it doesn't. Doesn't make me anti-TOS. Just means that it doesn't always fit to my eye. It's like 5th time I am posting this pic. Anti-TOS people tend to ignore it. Can you with a straight face say this ship doesn't belong in a modern TV show or movie?
No they're not. Several people have responded to your pictures.Anti-TOS people tend to ignore it.
objectively
The designer of the NX-01 would disagree with you. He designed the NX-01 too look more primitive then the Connie, with exposed warp coils, the hull plating looking like it was bolted on instead of placed some other, more advanced way.Sorry but I disagree. Unmodified TOS ship models are objectively dated. DSC haters write on many occasions that DSC and ENT are different universe than TOS prime. This is main reason. TOS models are simply from older tv era. They simply don't fit visually to continuity from ENT to DSC to later TNG/DS9/VOY when CG graphics and SFX was used instead of physical model. This is why visual reboot was needed.

Last one is fan-art. NOTHING here says that NX-01 is objectively newer than Defiant. Nothing at all. You can subjectively think what you want to think. No one is going to argue your own opinion. But you cannot come here and say that without a doubt, objectively NX-01 is newer. Never in a million years.
You don't get to call your opinion objective. And you don't get to speak for everybody or even "everybody without TOS nostalgia."Sorry but this is also only your opinion. Mine is different. I can say that NX-01 is modern 3d model of starship which perfectly fits in visual continuity ENT->DSC->TNG. You have right to disagree but you objectively cannot say without a doubt that 3d model of Defiant is more modern when isn't. Simple truth is de gustibus non est disputandum. Anyway if you objectively saying that this Defiant 3d model is modern then you saying that perfectly fits visually in continuity ENT->DSC->TOS->TNG and no one ever disagreed that opinion on this forum.![]()
That right there: nope.Everyone without TOS nostalgia objectively sees it.
When you say “ship models” are you referring to the physical model? Because I wouldn’t argue that the same physical model of the Enterprise should be used in DSC. The defiant wasn’t a physical model in ENT and it didn’t look “dated” because (as I’ve argued above) I don’t think the prime Connie design has dated when compared to other sci-fi ship designs of that era.Unmodified TOS ship models are objectively dated.
Yes the ship model was built in the 1960s. That’s not the only reason you’re arguing that it’s dated, is it? I’d be genuinely interested to discuss the influences from the 1960s that you feel are overtly and explicitly apparent in the design of the prime Enterprise, and a list of some of her contemporaries so that we can compare craft in the same context and establish that the Enterprise is part of a visual trend that is heavily influenced by 1960s culture, context, and visual design.TOS models are simply from older tv era.
