USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Yep, since they are both in different universes. Events in one have no bearing on the other. ;)
To reference a character in a show that I like (well it’s a line from a movie that many people think is the “best one”) :

“It would explain a great many things...”

The ISS Constellation showed up in the latest Discovery mirror comic, looks nothing like the Enterprise

Linked for spoilers

In one shot its saucer looks like it came from the USS Kelvin, but in the next shot it's just a TOS Connie.

Although it does look like the artist tried to add the gaps in the pylons seen on the DSC Enterprise.

Huh. Her components are more reminescent of those of Kelvin-era ships. Maybe something to do with the "previous Enterprise" that the "Countdown to Darkness" comic alludes to.

In fact, the two images don't even seem to be the same ship at all.

btw that ship's existence is sort of undone by the naming convention of the enterprise-A in star trek beyond yeah?

they are the same ship. It's just artist inconstancy.

The Imgur album is out of the order, the bottom image appears on the page before the top image.

It looks like the artist traced/based the forward shot off this actually.

Normally, sure. But the first Countdown was said to be official, no?
As official as any other comic.

Before someone pulls the quote of Orci (or was it Kurtzman?) saying the comics were canon, it was out of context, he says in the full interview that it isn't up for him to decide.

The interviewer was fishing for an answer.

Seems like a rather blatant copy, unless there was permission given:

After 50 years of fans making their own versions and almost 20 years of folks posting them online...
I would imagine that there's going to be a lot of duplication's out there being used.

Besides, I don't think anybody but CBS can truly lay legal claim to any version that is out there.
:vulcan:

Some publishers care, someone had their Enterprise-E Render used on the cover of a TNG Novel, the artist contacted the publisher, they apologized and even compensated him for it.

They claim they thought it was an official render of the ship.

After that whole court fiasco between CBS/Paramount and that Peters dude, I'm fairly sure that most folks aren't willing to push the matter.
If it were me, I'd be honored that somebody thought it was good enough to use in an official capacity and would only ask that they give a little credit to the original artist.
