USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Seriously? The lifting body around the saucer, the nacelle pylons, the different engine design, and the fact that Gagarin doesn't have a shuttlebay? Or the fact that the Gagarin's underside -- which is, in fact, upside down compared to the Shenzhou -- has a different texture and geometry altogether?
They're easier to tell apart than the TOS and TMP Enterprise.

TOS and TMP are practically different ships. I can buy this argument if you are comparing Enterprise-B with Excelsior.

No, he's wrong. Yes, there are a lot of changed details, but the fact that you can actually make them look like the same ship means that they are very, very, very similar.
Why is it such an issue? No one's saying that the Shepard is ugly. It's just that they should have put a bit more effort into making it distinct.
I wonder how much time was allocated to model each of the DSC ships we have seen?
It's an issue because THEY DID make it distinct. The two ships have exactly ONE feature in common and it's not even in the same place between the two of them.
I do know this. By flipping the Walker-class upside down, making the warp nacelles look better and changing a few other details it changes from a pretty rough-looking starship to one that's a lot prettier and more pleasing to spend time studying.
I'd love to see the Shepard Class with Discovery style Enterprise nacelles.
I like the Shepherd Class.
Then explain why they look almost identical when flipped? You've seen pictures now and several people have chimed in to point out that casual viewers wouldn't tell them apart. Hell, even fans would be hard-pressed to, at a glance. So if they're so different why is that so?
Cylindrical nacelles on a LOT of them would look better.

Cylindrical nacelles on all the Starfleet ships would have been best, especially as they knew they were going to show the Enterprise with cylindrical nacelles as well.
Design lineage would have looked a lot smoother and would have fit in better with what we already know and saw in ToS.
Shouldn't really see square nacelles for another 15 years or so, if we then add the even older Walker class with its square nacelles it really is a bit of a mess overall in that regard.
It makes me think there was too many cooks in the kitchen.
And half of them think beef stroganoff is a dessert.
