USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Totally change events. Gender swap someone would be a dead give away. But looks are just that, looks that change in TV all the time. Retcons are super common in trek, I mean they do them all the freaking time. Changing the size to something that makes sense isn't a big deal.
Why would gender swapping someone change the events? If the DIS version of the Klingon D7 doesn't make it a reboot then sure as hell Scotty being a woman wouldn't make it one either! It is just updated visuals for modern audiences, man!

The point stands, by canon, that the Connie's were the best-of-the-best.

But there was nothing to compare them to, until DSC came along.

Just because it's smaller then the Crossfield doesn't make it weaker or less impressive.

Just look at the Defiant in DS9. One the smallest ships in the Fed fleet, but it kicked serious ass.

The Sovereign Class in the TNG Movie Era were considered the most advanced and powerful starships in the fleet, yet were smaller than the Galaxy Class.

Just food for thought.

Don't forget the Defiant. Though then again, it was built as a dedicated warship.

But it wasn't the smallest. Right now, the TOS Constitution's are smaller than pretty much every other Starfleet ship we've seen.
I don't know why you're so caught up over the size. We also only know the sizes of 2 ships from DSC.

Debatable? It could go head to head with a design that was very very old in comparison, the Excelsior Refit class.

It is a death by a thousand cuts. Any one change, in and of itself, would be tolerable. But, after a while, you begin to get a distinct feel they only care about TOS as far as they can use it to validate their vision.

Let's be real..

The reason why people are *really* upset about the revised TOS era Enterprise is because it makes all their TOS merch suddenly obsolete ;)
Actually, it makes them MORE of a 'Rare Collector's Item' since TOS is still on the air and the TOS films still air as well. (Assuming said items are still boxed/come with original packaging aka NFRB!.) ;)

And the TOS writers guide called the Enterprise "the largest and most advanced vessel in space" or words to that effect:sigh:
One thing (that is canon) to remember - per TOS - "The Cage", Pike's Enterprise held a crew compliment of 203.

Ten or so years later the crew compliment of Kirk's Enterprise held 430. ;)

Its pedantic continuity. They're trying hard to keep to the letter of events* while ignoring the spirit with which they were intended.

*with huge qualifiers like a massive tech upgrade, an all-new look, ignoring huge bits of lore they don't want to follow up on etc
Basically yes.
