Ah you might be right - I'm not really sure why they made the changes, possibly to do with the redress as the Excelsior. It's never bothered me because it's obviously supposed to be the same bridge.

Which is fair enough. But I personally think the visuals are as important to selling the universe as the stories.
It will be really hard to put it to bed one way or the other until we get better shots, or likely the Eagle Moss models anyhow

But yeah, they're essentially the exact same bridge with a few small aesthetic differences like the decals on the turbolift doors, the location of Spock's science station and the colors of the chairs. Oh, and the headrests on the chairs no longer raised and lowered after TMP. That little feature was excised, possibly to save money on running the motors in the TMP chair props that operated the headrests.

I dunno, I like the original better. I also like Gnome 2 compared to Gnome 3. On the other hand I like re-imagined BSG compared to original BSG. I like TNG more than TOS. I like Windows 10 compared to Windows 7 (And also like Windows 8 too)

For a size difference so large to not be visible, the Enterprise would have to be far closer to the camera than Discovery and not nose-to-nose on the same plane - but we know from Discovery's viewscreen window that that's the case.
Hypothetically, if it were proven bigger (can't wait for the Eaglemoss model!), would you concede that Discovery isn't the same continuity as The Original Series?
So they retconned a size that never was correct to start with. Its still prime.
Pike's ship had 200 crew, this one will have 900, then Kirk's will be smaller and have 430 and people will still cling to "CBS says so!"
I'd be happy with the Discovery being a lot smaller than the Eaglemoss model indicates. She's an okay ship, but too freaking big for my tastes. Were she a lot closer in size to the TOS Enterprise and just a bit longer that'd be ideal.

Since there has never been on-screen mention of how big the Enterprise really is.... nope.
This is exactly how I've come to think about things. Discovery is way too big at 750m, the Enterprise is practically too small at 300m. A 400-450m Enterprise and a 450-500m Discovery suits me fine. That would still make the Enterprise bigger than Disco, given the latter's nacelles.
So what would they have to change in order for you to admit it's a reboot? Female McCoy? Asian Scotty? Romulans with round ears?

She comes up dead on, not facing parallel but much closer to the camera as would have to be the case for a 300m ship to look comparable in size to a 750m one at an angle which gave the illusion of them being dead-on.
I'm happy with a 289m Enterprise. 
That's the size of a supercarrier or just a tiny bit smaller. Plenty of room to run around and work in. And hey, she can fit anywhere from 203-430 officers and crew depending on the decade. That's already more living space than Discovery or even Voyager more than a century later!

If a change doesn't significantly affect any crucial plot point or future story, then just roll with it. Since changing the size of the ship won't make or break any of TOS, it's safely within the canon. Your points, however, would change things (and aren't what we're discussing).
