USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Supposedly the Constitution class was supposed to be the most powerful starship design at the time which would explain why they were used on Exploration missions, if there were more powerful or superior (faster or greater range) ships available it seems silly not to use them.

Perhaps individuals posted to them tended to advance in rank faster and was good for their career, assuming they survived long enough that is.

My point is that the show has never given a good explanation as to why the Connies are held in such regard when other ship classes aren't, especially ship classes that are much newer and more advanced than they are. All these reasons that have been posted are just fan speculation.

Well, the Enterprise was very specifically a starship, as shown by the lines of dialogue saying it took 430 or so to crew one. A starship by definition would be a spaceship capable of (or in this case, focusing on) interstellar travel, but that’s about as specialized as it gets. Even on DSC the Enterprise remains “starship class” on its plaque, suggesting it’s interstellar in more ways than the obvious one.

Except that's exactly what DSC has done since it premiered.
The Enterprise was mentioned as a prestigious posting in DSC season 1, and the opening of season 2 basically had the bridge crew swooning over her.

Though Number One seemed to like the Discovery (Or was that Nhan?)

In Your Opinion.

Er, yes. I thought that was rather obvious.

The Enterprise was mentioned as a prestigious posting in DSC season 1, and the opening of season 2 basically had the bridge crew swooning over her.

But again, no one actually explained just why it was so prestigious or the reasons for the swooning. It didn't seem to be any different of a ship than the ship they were currently serving on.

And yet here I am asking the question.
And yet, you seem to be the only one who doesn't get it.

We've given reasons for your WHY.
Apparently that isn't good enough for you, even though it's been the Actual EPISODES that have the characters stating it as a FACT.
I guess you'll have to discover your own answers at this point.

Once they remaster the TOS-R into the TOS-DSC ship plus ten years, then the DSC Enterprise will look outdated.

To be fair real life is like this too. Having gone to UC Berkeley for my undergrad (Constitution class), I still don't get why it's so prestigious or the reasons for people swooning at it. Getting my Master's degree at UC Riverside (Walker class or Crossfield class) was much more pleasant.

I suspect as in real life examples, it has more to do with the hype and glamor around the people associated with the Constitution class than actual benefits to the Constitution itself (although there may be some, like the full fledged holodeck rec room seen in TAS).

If you omit the spore hub drives installed aboard the Discovery and Glenn it's possible that the Constitution-class starships are the home of most of the best shipboard technology in Starfleet and their size combined with their capabilities and powerful engines may make them the high-tech luxury vehicles of their era.

Why would you imagine that, knowing full well that TOS-R was justified by the idea that TOS would’ve looked like that if only it had CGI and the budget, whereas DSC is about putting a modern twist on it? Besides, what good would discofying CGI do if everything else remained tossy? Finally, don’t you have the feeling that the special-edition fad is basically over, at least when it comes to replacing iconic original effects with so-so CGI of the remastering day?

Should’ve went with Version A with Version B’s nacelle pylons.

I agree with you and Dukhat that version A was much better. Except for the back end of the nacelles. He should've rotated those to match the original.

Common sense.

I don't tend to trust that. Much of what's called "common sense" actually boils down to "my opinion".

The problem with that idea, based on what we've actually seen, is why anyone would feel this way about the Constitution class. Both the Shenzhou and the Discovery seem to be far more awe-inspiring ships than the Enterprise was.

That's because we don't think like 23rd century humans! ;)
