Untitled Star Trek - Discovery project

My point being that someone likes spouting info on an internet bulletin board about people working in offices supposedly making all this stuff for a fictional tv show, while my office, which is decidedly non-fiction, is closed indefinitely. Take that how you will.
Oh, I get your skepticism about this news, I share it. Still, posting things like "all these people could be dead within a year" seems to be crossing a line, IMO.

If it got attention, it did its job. But if it will make you feel better, I’ve edited my post.

Also, if Enterprise is such a failure, why draw more attention to it by naming your new show after it?
I didn’t call it a failure. I said it’s irrelevant. Which it is. It doesn’t even have an active license for anyone to make Enterprise merchandise. So internally it’s dead. They’re not naming the new series after the 2001 show, they’re replacing it.

FWIW, I used the Wayback Machine on that Ontario link, and it did say Star Trek: Enterprise in March, but God knows where that site gets its info.

Direct from the production. It’s called Star Trek: Enterprise. The working title is Strange New World. How does this not compute yet?

A Pike Series is as likely to be called Star Trek: Enterprise as the Picard Series was to be called Star Trek: Destiny or Star Trek: Reliant. They're all working titles, code-name titles, or registered titles that they considered but ultimately won't go with.

When somewhere like Variety calls a Pike Series "Star Trek: Enterprise", then I'll start to believe it'll be the actual title. Until then, I'm not putting any stock in what the title might be. At the end of the day, "What's in a name?" As long as we know what show they're talking about.

Enterprise is a series in the CBS All Access library, along with all the other Star Trek series. If there's a Pike Series, they'll name it something else, so their line-up will be nice and neat when they list things in alphabetical order.

Star Trek
Star Trek: The Animated Series
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Star Trek: Discovery
Star Trek: Enterprise
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Star Trek: Picard
Star Trek: Short Treks
Star Trek: Voyager

Unless ENT is removed from this line-up, it's not being replaced with something else.

EDIT: In other news, Strawberry Shortcake! Haven't seen that since I was a kid. Takes me back.
DOUBLE-EDIT: Nevermind. It's not the one from the '80s. Got my hopes up...

Irrelevance and failure usually go hand and hand. If ENT had been been a smash hit like TNG, you probably wouldn't be equivocating like this.

You are focusing on merchandise, I'm focusing on the fact they're giving a new show the exact same title as an old show, which is really shoddy and unnecessarily confusing. I don't know how large or old you think the Star Trek fanbase is that people wouldn't remember Star Trek: Enterprise. That it would be based on Discovery Pike but using the title of an old "irrelevant" show seems liked an unforced error on what could be a great opportunity. It makes me concerned about the competency of the people running this ship, no pun intended.

This some Nth level corporate doublespeak. They’re not naming the new series after the 2001 show. Yes, you are! They’re replacing it. With a show that is only tangentially related to an older show whose name you took, mostly just being set in the same Star Trek fictional universe and having a starship named Enterprise! Great plan!

Direct from the production.
And I'm just supposed to take your word for it?

It’s called Star Trek: Enterprise. The working title is Strange New World.
You sure you don't have it reversed?

How does this not compute yet?
Maybe because you have no evidence to back up your claims, and all you do is get defensive and ornery when people challenge you on that fact.

There is no proof, no evidence. Skepticism is what is encouraged in the supposed scientific world and in the world of Star Trek, and yet I am expected to accept a complete stranger's word for it whole cloth? :vulcan:

No thank you.

New one isn't bad.

People, I wouldn't rule out the things CaptainXaviOfEarth is saying. I've seen some proof of the claims he or she makes here and I can tell you this: it's reliable. Of course, you don't have to take my word for it, cos who am I? But I do believe some people will have to eat humble pie in a while when the news becomes official...

Well, like I said, "What's in a name?"

If the Pike Series turns out to be called Enterprise, then I'll call it ENT21 and the series with Archer ENT01. Note that I wouldn't be too thrilled with this, but at least it would help to tell the two series apart in discussions here.

nENT or nuENT would look as if it were a reboot of the series with Archer. So that's why I'd go with ENT21. :shifty::shifty::shifty: No. That's too long for an acronym or abbreviation.

How about this? E21. Noooo.... That still looks odd.

I still think they should call it something else.

If he has such good inside info and is so compelled to release it before any official announcement, he shouldn't have any problem backing them up with proof and breaking any taboos about releasing that evidence. You can't be half a snitch.

Not ruling out. Just incredibly skeptical and that won't change just because people say so.

For the sake of discussion, naming a hypothetical Pike show ST: Enterprise - it's not that different from various TV shows and a film named Clone Wars (and variations thereof) in the world of Star Wars.

The Thing is a direct prequel of the 20th century movie of the same name.

For the sake of referencing Trek shows, I'd prefer if a hypothetical Pike show title didn't duplicate an existing title. Perhaps something like ST: To Boldly Go (ST:TBG)? Or Strange New Worlds (SNW).

Yes, and they were all based on the same thing, the Clone Wars. Plus the CGI show was intentionally made to replace the animated shorts. Now image if they did a cartoon series about Luke Skywalker and they called it Clone Wars. See the problem?

The Thing

Stupid is as Stupid does.
