Uniforms in the new series

How about a distinguish design but the colors remain the same, would that work? With this I think security could fall under the path of like a yeoman where the color track be either Avocado green, red, or blue. After the security person's tenor she/he may continue the higher paths of the individuals careers.
Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with that. I also would hope that medical personnel would have some sort of surgical garment to wear besides the standard duty uniform. Same with Security having something like fatigues or something for field work.

I guess the colors don't matter as much to me as much as having more variety in the uniforms available. I don't expect them to look exactly like contemporary military uniforms because there is not as much color variation to them as I think would be expected in a Star Trek series. But, I could be wrong.

I too would like to see more variety in the uniforms. Both TMP and TWOK+ uniform designs were nice in the sense that they had a lot of variants for different situation, although the latter lacked a more casual version of the officer uniform for every day use.

Funny how the other command uniforms read as green.

But why a different color than the standard Command tunic? The other divisions match.
IIRC Kirk's green tunic was first seen in 'The Enemy Within'. There it's purpose was to make the two Kirks easier to distinguish visually, so a different colour makes sense. I'm not sure when we first saw the dress uniforms... Probably after that though, so they might have matched them to the wraparound rather than the standard uniform.

The cut was the difference, the color matched the material for the standard command uniform. The different materials don't read the same under lights and on film. The dress uniform shows up in Court Martial.

Like Dr. McCoy's short sleeve tunic. If it was done it should have some identity so it's clear it's medical staff, and security more police like; probably strapped with phaser weapons on them.

As for color schemes, I think it depends. This day and age there is a lot more flexibility with costuming and colors.
Yes, we could see more subtle colour differences across the uniforms, e.g. uniforms in a large number of different shades from blue through indigo to dark red.

I agree with this. Actually, what was interesting about the TWOK uniforms is we saw a couple of different variants between the vest that Kirk had in Generations or the Bomber jacket that started in SFS.

But, I have to say that one aspect I do like about the FC movie/DS9/gray uniforms is that a lot of fans have developed some interesting concepts for variations. This has a directory of some more interesting ones.

I tend to agree, and liked the different technical manuals as they show a lot more variants on the TOS uniforms than seen in films.

Is the wraparound made out of the same material as the season one and two pullover?

No. The season one and two tunics were a velour, whereas the wraparounds were made of a wool double-knit. I own an Anovos reproduction of the first season wrap (seen in my profile pic).

The real purpose of the service colours is not identification of duties, it is that they look nice on TV and break the monotonousness of the uniforms. Three is perfect number of colours for this, more would look garish.
So four colors on the bridge in TOS looked garish? Whenever Kirk wore the wraparound we had green, gold, red and blue and it looked fine, adding a fifth color wouldn't make much of a difference and if it's white for example the additional uniform would probably help to tone down the colorfulness instead of adding to it.

If they don't do more than three colors I would still give medical and security their own colors and everyone else the third primarily because I think in an emergency medical and security are the ones you want to be able to tell apart from everyone else immediately.
They could go back to giving the divisions their own insignia like in TOS, that would be enough to tell the same colored engineers and scientists apart during regular duty.
