I don't have anything against new Uhura, but original Uhura was really super special.

So, the original was attractive; And the new one is attractive; And I'm sure that if they recast again fifty years from now, that one will be attractive too. That being said, even if the new cast does does a bang up job, with all due respect, under penalty of torture and with my last dying breath, I will never ever choose an impersonator over the original. A bit melodramatic? Perhaps, but the point is clear, Nichelle Nichols hands down all the way until the end of time.
They wouldn’t make the original Uhura a regular on Star Trek so Roddenberry had to write her into each episode. Same with Nurse Chapel (Number One). You’ve got to admit, the old horn dog took care of his old girl friends.
I always found Uhura sexy, but I got a lot of strange looks from friends when I admitted it. Of course Roddenberry thought she was hot. And Shatner did. OK, I feel better.
I would like to be a “special friend” of the original Uhura, but it would have to be Uhura in her little Star Trek uniform and not Nichelle Nichols who I don’t find anywhere near as attractive.
Anyway, I vote for the original.
And, BTW, if you’re going to stray so far away from the original as Zoe Saldana, why not go for Rae Dawn Chong? Too skinny, I know, but so is Zoe, and Rae Dawn is much cuter. If I had my druthers I’d make Halle Berry the new Uhura.

Looks aside, I think Zoe is cute on the epic scale. However, my main concern isn't so far her looks, but the role she has to play. What tropes will her character fall under?
1. Just answering calls saying "Hailing frequencies open" and "No response, sir".
2. Just watch what's going on and react.
3. Be the love interest to one of the male characters that, when in danger propels the male character to step up and take action while she does nothing.
4. Be the one who addresses the male character's flaws and tells him to step up. And when trouble arises, the male character does while she sits back and does nothing.
5. Be nothing but fan service (Trailers are doing a very good job at that already).

Nichelle was good looking..at the start...but towards the end I grew tired of her...ZOE!!! all the way...she is hot. I gotta have me some of that!!!

The new Uhura is very pretty, but it's a bit like comparing a girl to a woman. Nichelle was a brick house. Maybe that's the look they were going for since she's supposed to be a bit younger.

Well..all I know is that, to me, she is hot...and HOTTER that Nichelle. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it...and if KIRK wants to BONK her down the line, then I am all for it...Pine is pining away for it I'm sure!!!
