I agree with the Coop problem. It's really disappointing to still have that part of the story still plodding on. I'm hoping Diane finds him and throws some damn fine coffee in his face to pull him out of his funk.

Wonder what Hawk found in the stall door. Missing pages of Laura's diary where she wrote about Annie's message? Or something left by Garland Briggs before Anticoop killed him.

    True.

I don't think the deal with the truck was gratuitous. Once, Steven Spielberg said that he had to re-watch Invaders From Mars. He couldn't believe the father could strike the son--and he thought that--somehow--if he watched it again--that wouldn't happen.

Lynch likes to reverse things--as we know. I think he might have been influenced by something that really happened.
This time, it was a father following a little girl. One train was stopped. There was a second train behind the first at full speed.

I think Lynch saw this--and wanted to show the soul rising--to put at least something hopeful in the scene.

He was in Fire Walk with Me. Harry Dean Stanton as "Carl Rodd."
    Carl supervised a trailer park.

We saw another agent vanish in that film.

Lot's of footage of power lines in that film--and in this series. We saw the child's soul thankfully pass through them blamelessly--I wonder if the power lines are like HPL's Whippoorwills -- psychopomps trying to catch a soul...

Yeah, also tired of the Douggie bit. If anyone suddenly started acting like that in real life, anyone who knew and cared about him would have assumed a stroke and hauled his ass to the doctor.

My wife officially declared us done last week. I was on the fence, but enough is enough.

I have no idea what I watched but I loved it! It almost felt like a silent film in some parts and those woodsmen people might end up being one of the most scary villians we ever see on tv.

That was brilliant. High AF made it even better.

Was the 1956 kid actually Gordon Cole?

I would be legitimately scared to watch 3.8 while high. It was almost too intense while sober.

Both confusing and horrifying in equal measures.

Well Lynch... love taking on 2001...

My Mother (never a fan, but intrigued: I showed her several integral episodes of the original) is convinced Lynch has filmed a bunch of craZy-ass scenes and is arbitrarily stringing them together.

Some pay off, by now. Something. Cryptic != Clever.

I like the high concept stuff but I think a Twin Peaks revival should have a little more of the melodrama of the original series.

My thinking is that this episode showed us the birth of Bob in a nuclear explosion, the giant seeing this happening and sending good spirits to help fight him, and then Bob occupying his first host, Laura's grandmother.

That's what I took away from it as well, except that I didn't make the connection that that was Laura's grandmother/Leland's mother. If you were and have been paying attention, this episode did actually make a lot of sense in a really abstract kind of way.

Only thing that doesn't track is age of Leland if it's his mother. He seemed in his 40s in the original, he'd have to be under 33 for it to be his mother. So, maybe not his mother, maybe just owner of next house over at Pearl Lakes.

Nowhere was it mentioned that the girl was Laura's grandma.

That's true. In fact I got my own theory is she is Bob's mom or at least the mom of the human form we saw him take on the first 2 seasons.

It was my first thought because "Bob inhabits his children". But since it happened in 1956 the age math doesn't work out for it to be. It does seem to be Bob's host prior to Leland, that's an interesting point that it might be Ms Tremond/Chalfont.
