Twin Peaks Season 3 (Revival) Discussion / Spoilers

You mean, he was originally chosen in the original Twin Peaks to be Harry S Truman? That's interesting.

Weird how their reason for Harry not being there is harry being sick. You'd think with Cooper coming back into the picture he'd try to be informed even if he's bedridden, feels like they need a stronger story reason for him not to appear.

Some other observations. "You were tricked", must be by eyeless lady. The first time the outlet had number 15. The woman desperately stopped him from going to that outlet, hit a switch, and then when he came back down it had number 3. I'm guessing, number 15 was heading toward Anticoop's car charger and the eyeless lady was recruited by Bob to redirect him to the wrong outlet.

Cute that after Cooper can't remember anything and only repeats things done by others, it's coffee that jogs his memory.

This week's eps gave me an anxiety attack. The long takes of nothing happening, the tense music, the waiting to find out what's happening, the two hours of waiting for Cooper to stop being a zombie. I'm sure Lynch edited it that way intentionally, but I have an actual anxiety problem, and this show just cranked my volume knob to ten (not quite eleven). I may have to stop watching if it keeps up.

Although Duchovney in drag was a fantastic release. I couldn't stop laughing. And that little fanning wave at the end!

Two of my favorite beauties as surprise guest stars tonight - Meg Foster as the casino cashier, and Naomi Watts as Mrs Douggie.

Who do you think Gordon is talking about when he says he wants to have 'Her' see Cooper. Sarah Palmer? She, Margaret and Donna are the only ones known to have sensitivity to the spirits. And Sarah Palmer is the one we know to be a drinker.

CARSICK!!!

.

That was priceless.

I don't think so. Remember--there was a woman who was absorbed into a doorknob:

The structure floating out in space? Looks a lot like a doorknob to me.

The first time the outlet had number 15. The woman desperately stopped him from going to that outlet, hit a switch, and then when he came back down it had number 3.

If you get a chance--look at the room number on the key that Cooper's fresh body has. It's 315.

I thought electricity would be involved.

The small sphere? Well, Coop has lost his marble.

The eyeless lady (josie?) threw the switch to let him go.

His I.Q. is lower here--that was the trick--not his release.

Had the marble went along--we'd see Cooper at his fullest.

The body--I'm thinking--was a brother adopted out. A dissolute man who was possessed by Cooper.

It looked like Cooper was going to get his old body back--we see him in the car lighter.
That reminded me of the scene from No Country for Old Men when we see Anton in the doorknob with Ed Tom at the doorway.

He got shunted into the body of the other person. It was a close thing.

Cooper Bob said he is working with Phillip Jeffries who vanished in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1987. (Borges involvement? He died in 14 June 1986)

Phillip was played by David Bowie in the movie: http://twinpeaks.wikia.com/wiki/Phillip_Jeffries

The trick was that he was supposed to replace Anticoop, not that other guy who looks like him. He gave other guy his ring so he could avoid getting sucked back into the Lodge. The lower IQ is just amnesia that resulted from the trauma of the trip.

I think that if he had ignored eyeless lady and gone out '3' he would have come out the car charger.

The key in his pocket was his room key to the Great Northern which he had in his pocket when he entered the Lodge.

This is getting difficult to watch.
Unless Douggie acted like a zombie all the time, SOMEbody should be taking him to a doctor thinking he had a stroke. Everyone around him is acting stupid to forward the plot. If there IS a plot.

Peggy Lipton!! :adore:
And... Madchen.

And a very strange minute of extreme closeup of Amanda Seifreid high. :cardie:

I like the scenes in Twin Peaks this week with the renewed drug business and that guy who is even worse than Leo.

Agree Cooper amnesia plot is dragging way too long.

Loved Jacoby paranoid libertarian podcast.

Well, I just did what millions of Twin Peaks fans around the world have wished they could do for decades-- I jumped straight from watching the S2 finale for the first time* and went straight into S3. Cliffhanger? What cliffhanger?:whistle:

*Of course, given the place that Twin Peaks has in pop culture, as well as having friends who are fanatical over the show, I have been long aware of the specifics of the cliffhanger.

Interesting choice to end each episode with a performance at the road house.

I seem to recall reading that Lynch and Frost wrote this as a continuous 18-hour script and split it into episodes during the editing process. That might be a trick to cover that up, to give the episodes an endpoint.

Reactions: ALF
It was written and filmed that way. The bands playing at the end likely is exactly what you describe. I also think that each song is significant in some way to that episode. I can't put my finger on it, but I definitely get that impression.

Anyone else catch Toad's extreme weight loss?

Also Double R Diner used to be more isolated, looks like street developed around it. Twin Peaks is not such a small town anymore.

Yeah, I'm done with Dougie-Coop. The story is just happening all around him without his direct involvement. I want Coop to drive the story, not watch it.

I thought that the spray painted shovels were for a construction site opening. Some burial ground desecration that would explain Hawk's background or something. In the previous season 25 years ago--Fenn's character was trying to get it stopped before the bombing. I thought there was going to be an addition to a project near the circle which seems to be the entrance to the Black Lodge--though that can be anywhere now.

Also no word on Annie's fate. She was reportedly alive at the end of the series but appeared to Laura in FWWM seeming to be dead. It's unfortunately likely that the Evil Cooper did away with her shortly after his escape.
There are 90 minutes of deleted scenes from Fire Walk With Me. This is covered....

That was brutal seeing a kid run over by a truck like that. And we finally meet Diane and of course she's played by Laura Dern. A lot of people saw that coming.

I'm really tired of seeing zombie Cooper. That is starting to drag on. I was hoping real Cooper woukd be back this episode. Now that Hawk found something, I am truly hoping he returns next episode.

Otherwise, loving the return of TWIN PEAKS.

Yeah, only part I don't like is amnesia Coop.

Philip Gerard should have said "Wake up! The audience is getting bored!"

Not sure if deleted scenes are canon but curious about other plot points they cover.

Wonder what's up with that guy who can apparently see souls leaving bodies.
