Trek Tearjerkers

Okay, I'll admit this one: There was a specific scene in Insurrection that made me cry a little, the scene where Geordi regains his vision briefly. The way he explains it is really touching.

"I just....I've never seen a sunrise, at least, not the way you see it..."

And Data dying was also quite sad.:(

I liked Data's death more when it happened in TWoK.

I just watched my TNG-R Blu-Ray of "Encounter At Farpoint"

I got a little choked up when Dr. McCoy said "You treat her like a lady... and she'll always bring you home."

RIP De Kelley

Absolutely!
Truly a class act, Mr. Kelley.

Something worth noting:

DeForest Kelley...James Doohan...for both of them, the last "chronological" time we see them is their going away.

For Kelley, it's Admiral McCoy walking off with Data, down the corridor. For Doohan...it's flying off in his shuttle, from the Enterprise....

Another tear-jerking moment for me was when Data found Spot at the end of Generations. Maybe I'm too much of a cat person, but that scene always got to me.

My wife and I just watched "What You Leave Behind" tonight -- her for the first time -- and I had forgotten just how emotional that episode is. There are several points where I can break down crying. DS9 really can pack an emotional punch.

Does anyone remember if Data showed any emotion when he found Spot? I can't remember the status of his emotion chip at that point.

I thought it was just Spock's death and the end of DS9, but I remembered another one.

The scene in VOY: "Once Upon a Time" where Samantha Wildman thinks she's going to die and is recording her final message to Naomi.

Well, he cried so....yeah definite emotion as he was still learning.

Not so much a tear-jerker, but TNG - The Nth Degree, the scene where Barclay comes onto the bridge & the Sytherian is there. That segment is pretty neat.

I've only cried watching a Star Trek episode once: "Unification Pt. 1" at the beginning of the episode where they dedicate the show to Gene Roddenberry's and list his date of birth and death.

It still chokes me up just thinking about it.

So far, the only tear-jerker I've seen was Spock's death at the end of Wrath of Khan. Every time I watch that bit, I cry....every time.

I watched ENT's "The Forgotten" recently. The entire plot showing the way Trip tries to come to terms with Crewman Taylor's death is quite emotional. Especially the scene where he tells T'Pol that every time he thinks about what a fine young woman Taylor was, he's actually thinking about Elizabeth. I think the episode effectively addresses the painful subject of losing someone close, and particularly someone young and full of potential.

When McCoy pulls the plug on his dad in Trek 5, and laments that he found a cure 3 months later.

When Picard finds out his family died in the fire in Generations.

"You are hurting me scene" from Voyager's Drone

How come no one mentioned Tasha's speech on the holodeck after her death. I was sobbing like a child 30 seconds in. Powerful stuff.

Tasha Yar's "goodbye" at the end of "Skin of Evil" is
sadly an underated often forgotten sequence, but one I felt a strong connection with when I first saw it in 1988. Thanks for bringing it up.

Spocks death in The Wrath of Khan made me cry as well as a scene
in Enterprise where Trip and T'Pol lose their baby daughter due to problems
with her DNA. When T'Pol suggests the name Elizabeth after Trips sister who was killed by the Xindi weapon was emotional for me as well.
