Trek Tearjerkers

Picard's breakdown in Family always hits hard if just for the demonstration of the sheer anguish he's in, and how badly the Borg really scarred him.

Everything about the conclusion to Duet has me close to tears every time I watch.

A bit of odd choice, but there's something subtly, yet deeply emotional in this scene in Measure of a Man.

Data: Sir, Lt. La Forge's eyes are far superior to human biological eyes true? Then why are not all human officers required to have their eyes replaced with cybernetic implants?
[Picard is at a loss for words and turns away]
Data: I see, it is precisely because I am not human.

That combination of almost sad understanding by Data and Picard realizing the horrifying implications of Maddox's order at the same time just gets me. Same with Guinan and Picard's talk in the same episode.

Well, the one episode that really makes me cry is "Oblivion." Something about that episode just got to me.

But actually, the things that bring tears to my eyes tend not to be personal stories, but scenes with some kind of Trek nostalgia, like Scotty on the bridge of the old Enterprise in TNG...

"You know, your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved eight hundred lives, including your mother's – and yours. I dare you to do better."

Something about the line gets me every time.

Not what I would personally call a tearjerker, but a line that gets at you and stays with you, for sure.. :techman:

A tearjerker that hasn't been mentioned yet is "Sacrifice of Angels". Tora Ziyal joining the resistance on DS9 and being killed.

Hm. I was definitely shocked, but I wouldn't call it a Tearjerker. I figured Dukat would renounce her and leave and that would be that. I guess the character never quite made a big impression on me (to be fair I haven't really watched the episodes in a few years now), and I had issues with her generally-unwavering love for her father.

And perhaps more moving rather than tear-jerking:
Odo and Mora's reconciliation at end of The Begotten
Kira and Ghemor in Ties of Blood And Water

It probably resonates with me more because of my relationship with my father. YMMV.

'Consciousness of the King' gets me every time. 'Oh, proud father!' When she quotes Shakespeare. That girl who played Leanore Karidian was wonderful and gorgeous, second only to Helen Noel. Does any one have a pic of them both. She was a great actress with alot of warmth though she gave a chilling performance. I'm sure she did lots of other stuff. I actually cry every time I see that along with Starship Troopers. 'Diz was a citizen.'
