ugh- yeah- nice colour... That colour will sure stand out on the big screen.
Can't say the brassy/ gold coloured knobs and dealies do to much for me.
I will be pleasantly surprised if they actually use the original phase design in this movie.

Regarding the color question -- isn't there actually a law of some sort that requires toy guns specifically to be brightly colored, so that police can distinguish them from real ones (to avoid fatal misunderstandings)? If so, maybe that explains the turquoise phaser.
If not, then...wow. More colorful than I expected.

"Turquoise" isn't really that "out of place" when describing the blue/green/grey of the original phaser body (which was never black, really, was it?)
Here's my phaser prop... note the colors (which are correct matches for the most commonly seen "hero" prop after the first few episodes of the first season).
Note that the type-one unit is black with silver, but that the powerpack/grip is actually dark bronze, and the body is a blue-green-tinted grey.
I can imagine someone describing that as "turquoise" (instead of being "black" if that's what they were expecting).

thanks cranston,the colour was a tad bit darker,guess they want to get away from manga,industrial design look,I think toy companies have to put an orange ring around the muzzle area,but the whole look was of sixties colour tones,my mate went sat,he got pics,but he wont share,says he dont need any legal grief and respects paramount which is cool bcus when u see this,u want to see it on their terms,presenting the new movie with a press conference or new trailer.
Sold as a toy, it is illegal in most states for a 'gun toy' to have realistic coloring, hence the bright turquoise. (For another example, see 'Classics Megatron') This isn't FEDERAL law, but a toy company selling through all 50 states, and then Canada, etc, has to go to the law that's the most strict, which is Illinois.
A collectible sold to adults, and usually through specialty stores, can be more 'realistic' looking, however, but is sold differently than mass-retail toys.

The E-E is based on the Phase II Movie design which was based on the pre production design from The Cage. What's wrong with that?
Ya know, you said this in another thread, and I still don't know what you're smoking. The Phase II Enterprise was the basis for the ST:TMP Refit, and looks nothing like the E-E. As for pre-production, I have no clue which design you mean.
