News Trans character announced

Nope, not virtue signalling.

That's literally the definition of what this is

Just sit back and watch him react to the season like we all know he will

This board has a terrible track record of being presumptuous and putting words into other people's mouths.

If the characters are likeable, the writing is good and the production quality is high, I'll enjoy it and will say as much. Just like I enjoyed the beginning of season 2, till it fell off a cliff.

Well written storys is kind of what I'm worried about, I mean Pike had to LITERALLY do a roll call in the 2nd season to get the b team names out.
So hopefully there not introduced then fade in to the background like the bridge crew. but we'll see.
Just hope they don't focus on the trans/non binary character just because there that, and there characters are paper cutouts in story development.

We've had development for Airiam, Owo, Detmer, Nhan. How about Bryce and Rhys, do they count too?

I just watched the DS9 episode Rejoined and they did a good job in that episode. The trill taboo might have been shoehorned in though but other than that it’s still an enjoyable episode.

I imagine the story was built around the relationship. So, no, it wasn’t shoehorned in.

Who cares what it is as long as the characters are well-written and acted? Stamets and Culber have been handled (IMO) superbly so far, so...

I would like to see Culber do more Doctor work though. It seemed like his character was only there for the relationship and while that might be the after effects of what happened to him, I would like to see him be a doctor.

Did Kurtzman do a similar tweet for Nhan, or Reno, or Number One, or Cornwell, or "Cleveland Book" (lol)?
Well, no, because none of those actors or the characters they play are transgender or non-binary.

That's why this is noteworthy, because in the case of Blu del Barrio and Adria, both the actor and the character they play are non-binary. And in Ian Alexander's case, he's transgender and his character, Gray, is transgender. These are both first's for Star Trek.

Anytime anything is a first it's noteworthy and should be acknowledged, right?

And the next time there's a transgender or non-binary actor/character there will barely be a mention if one at all.

This is a great idea for a Trill, with a host living so many lifetime as both sexes gender becomes irrelevant. I hadn't even considered that before.

The fact that they're gay has been, but that seems to be the showrunner's only priority. Two seasons in, what do you know about Culber, apart from the fact that he likes opera?

I was curious to see Jessie Gender's reaction...

Her reaction at the 11:25-mark is basically the same as mine. Like I say: All the right people hate it.

I also liked the point she raised about having a non-binary and a transsexual character, so the difference between the two can be emphasized. One identifies with a different gender than they were born with and the other doesn't identify with a gender at all.

So I'm asking why he didn't announce other new characters in the same way?
In the spirit of not being presumptuous and putting words into peoples' mouths, being presumptuous and putting words into peoples' mouths being something that you'd just criticized by the way, if you want to know the answer to that question, then ask him yourself!

Apart from him dying and being reborn in the mycelium network and facing existential questions about himself? Probably enough for a few seasons of 13 episodes each with other characters to cover. See what season 3 brings.
