TOS Bridge Crew: Cat-Person or Dog-Person?

I’ve had both dogs and cats who I’ve loved but I disagree with the first two.

I think Kirk would totally have a cat. I see Kirk after his day’s mission is done lounging around his quarters with a cat purring on his lap. Kirk luxuriates in life.

And a cat would just be a pointless curiosity to Spock. Owning a cat is totally illogical. But dogs have skills and are attentive. Their ethos is basically the Vulcan “we live to serve.” I could totally see Spock with a well trained German Shepherd.
Try catching a mouse with your bare hands.

So who was the actress who played cat lady in Assignment Earth? Teri Garr was quite confused.
Aaaaaah this has been the subject of much controversy and confusion over many decades until recently someone here figured out definitively who she was and....I don't remember who she is at all but someone knows.

I’d say that Spock was just a warm, fuzzy animal person. We see him with a tribble and a cat, but he had a sehlat growing up, and those, to me, are much more dog-like in personality.

Sehlats are just very large Manx Cats.
