Top Gear New Series

This Sunday's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car is Eric Bana.

On a completely unrelated note that probably has nothing to do with his appearance, Bana's car-based documentary film Love the Beast, which features contributions from Jeremy Clarkson, is out on DVD the very next day. Also, some other film he was in came out on DVD this week.

Nothing to do with his appearance yeah right - the usual Top Gear "we aren't allowed to plug/advertise, but..." routine is coming :D

I do not know if anyone here watches 5th gear but some people who went to one of the top gear live shows saw Tiff and they have been told 5th gear is over.

In Australia TG is moving from SBS to Channel 9 next year. This is a huge disappointment. SBS supported TG and even made their own version when no one else did. Seems to be about the money. And I NEVER watch 9, it's a venal, money-grubbing organisation, since the owner Kerry Packer died. This is the station that took 3 YEARS to play all of VOY in a shitty timeslot, and pulled out of producing Farscape.

I may have to watch TG by... other means.

I thought Fifth Gear was positively sleep inducing, but I've seen clips of Tiff Needell as a regular guy not in FG presenter mode and he was actually pretty funny. Wouldn't mind see him pop up on Top Gear once in awhile assuming there are no grudges being held between him and Clarkson.

I get the impression they are good friends i know Tiff turned up in this years stocking filler dvd Jeremy did.

I wonder if they'll ever top the Botswana special. That has remained my favorite top gear episode by far (followed by the Polar special).

He turned up once as a surprise guest when they did some of that piggy back racing (two cars welded together, one on top of another, car on top steers, car below accelerates and brakes.)

This years film in Bolivia on the road of death looks like it could be a good one.

Really? I thought the Nam one was better. They really told a story with that one and the cinematography was breathtaking. Plus, you really got a sense of friendship and camaraderie with three blokes mucking about.

That was a good one as well, but I guess I prefer the cars from Botswana to the bikes in Nam. They made them feel almost like characters on their own. I suppose it helps that I also watched the Botswana episode with the commentary track.
