tng blueprinting WIP

i havnt done so yet, but i'm thinking about adding in all the screws... they could be explained as some sort of external hardpoint connect, or sensors, etc.

overkill?

more aztec'ing

i'm back into this one today. there was a question about the main hangar bay on another site, here's another look at the deck footprints, this one with the bridge and deck2 removed so you can see the layout of the bay, all the way into the saucer.

and since i was already focused on this area i worked up another view ive been wanting to include, but couldnt finish untill the questions about the door were answered!
this is an external view with the door rolled up, you can see the island in the background.

i also made another discovery on the issue of the lifeboat size, this is from the sternbach deck plans.
i noticed it for the first time as i was looking over the other callouts, hoping to find something on standard dimensions for halls/doorways.

already 1meter up from the tech manuals 3 meter stated dimension. but i'm happy to go with that size, because i had already sized the 3m pod up about 20% to 14.5' square. so i just need to make a few tweaks and i can finish out the typical profile for the pods, and ejector hardware! yay

a little update, only a few things left on the to-do list for the hull. i finished out the aztec and windows on the neck this weekend.

here is a direct link to the complete ortho as it is now, in umobstructed views

still todo:
finish saucer aztec
engineering hull windows.
detail the separation plane

i cant wait to see how much of a nightmare detailing the deck plans will be... :guffaw:

Very very good work :) :techman::drool:

i found used dvd sets of the first 2 seasons today! yay! hopefully it will help me with the aztecing on the portions of which i dont have good model photography!

of course, i'm sure once i start going through it taking screencaps i'll find even more reasons to nitpick and make changes :guffaw:i was watching generations again last nite, and i am already convinced i screwed up the main hangar floor, i'm reasonably sure i've put it an entire deck too low:wah::wah::wah:

this really screws up the spacing and layout of all those hatches and windows aft of the bay-doors on the top view...
oh well, stuff happens...

Anystar.....I sent you a yahoo message......I would like to ask you some questions about your 1701-d model when you have a chance. Thanks:)

@ Anystar

Okay I'm looking at the door situation. I see the problem. I think the solution is to stack the door segments in an over head much like some one suggested with rolling it up into a wheel.

With stacking you can make the most use of the most volume of space above the hanger itself without intruding upon the "air space" of the hanger deck.

True the problem you have still exist in that the widest lower segments of the door could never recede into the saucer but maybe this could help you develop an idea.

Frankly stacking the door segments bellow deck seems like the most logical solution despite what we've seen on screen.

I've been collaborating with Anystar and am building a model accurate to the 6ft model plans that he meticulously detailed....here are some pics if anyone wants to provide feedback or advice on shapes and such. Thanks.

It's hard to makeout the details with the chrome textures you're using. Maybe try switching to a clay material?

If I post in a non-reflective surface, the surface is dull and you can't make sense of the curves.....that being said, Anystar sent me pics of the 6ft model and here is the cobra head reshaped to match it.......i haven't finished it off, but the top surface is spot on to the model.....what do you all think? Here are more pics of the detail on the surface. Once I'm finished with the model, I'll use my 3d cnc machine to carve out a prototype and then I'll make a mold of it.....after that, I'll make a clear fiberglass body so I can do lighting and everything with it.

I restarted the model last night, the shape of the top of the cobra head isn't accurate according to new pictures I've obtained of the original model, and the top of the saucer section should transition smoothly from the apex to the rim, which mine didn't. I fixed the saucer transition last night and will be remaking the cobra head tonight. I'll post some more pics when I catch back up.
