tng blueprinting WIP

thank you guys for the kind words! you all know how much even the smallest bit of interest keeps a project alive!

i have a busy day today, mostly putting up the rest of the out-door xmas deco's, so i wont get much done this afternoon.

however; i want to post s peek at WHY i'm determined to add so much detail in!
a few images have been posted at higher-than-normal res (the 8k pix ones), but i havnt yet posted any full-size sheets.
i want to publish the final product in very high-res, high enough that even printing on full size-E (in the neighborhood of 48x36) or larger will require no scaling!!!

here is the full current starbord profile, with sheet-size border. and when i say high-rez, i mean HIIIIIGH rez :) 10,000pix by 7,120pix right now all lineweights are set at nil, so trying to view the whole page on screen at once it fades out, but you'll get the picture :)

some other fun facts:
drawn at full-scale, my overall length is 2,108' (or the more commonly used dimension is the 642.5 meters)

as of this post, 42,005 objects in drawing.
filesize 5.23 mb
project time logged, 96 hours 7 minutes (that includes one night i left cad running too though) haha
41 unique layers

and the most important fun fact:
by now probably at LEAST a dozen new grey-hairs!

hmm, the link above failed. i didnt check it before posting.

i may have to find another image host, PB is having problems with the big pictures, file size isnt too big, but the upload keeps failing.

here's another something i havnt shown yet. the aztecing

i've counted 4 distinct layers of masking. five if you count the base hull color.

i mentioned earlier i have tried to reduce this to 3 overall layers for simplification.

also, the deflector grid is scribed on the neck and enginerring hulls. but not on the saucer portion, it is merely an illusion created by the base coat of the aztecing.

i have kept the deck footprints, and the aztecing in separate files till now, but i copied a portion over for you, to show how it will look in the end.

argh, the lightest layer is still fading out in the plots.........
we'll you can see the 2 darker layers here anyway

i came across a little inspiration for my NX kitbash last nite, so i'm going to work on that for a bit today.
here's another example of me going overboard with the details! hahaha

also on a related note, it seems Photobucket was just goofy yesterday, they were updating their software. im fixing the hotfile links to the big pic with their direct link again

back into it today!!!

i finally got around to detailing the undercarriage.

also spending a ton of time today pouring through blurry series screencaps, trying to locate the details that were painted over for the generations upgrade. i dont have too many pics of the model before that new paintjob :(

on a related note, do any of you have any good pictures (non screencaps) of the "cobra head"?

I'm sure if you contacted Andrew Probert, he'd be happy to share all the info you'd ever need. ;)

i have often thought about it, mostly from the YEARS i've spent modeling/drawing/drafting the Refit. i always stop myself though, either from not wanting to be a pest, or fear of being scolded by the master. lol

The mere mention of his name might be enough to get him to pop in here. He does lurk around these parts.

Just remember, he prefers "Andrew", not "Andy". My guess is you have to know him personally to get away with calling him "Andy".

My rule of thumb when drawing in Trek Staffers Emeritus is the "Beetlejuice doctrine."

For example, if you'd like him to drop in, say "Probert, Probert, Probert".

Your welcome. ;)

I love this work.

I'd write more, but I've been drooling on my key board and I'm afraid of electrical shAALHHWHHWKK ARGH!!!!!!

i'm not very happy with the underside yet... nothing if fitting correctly. :brickwall:

i suppose we'll just have to see what today brings!
