Re: Tin Tin Teaser...

You know, when a teaser goes to such great lengths to obscure everyone's CGI faces as much as possible...

Re: Tin Tin Teaser...

Not feeling this. Comes across as bland, if not downright ugly. Does not evoke Herge's visual style in any way whatsoever, and if they are aiming to make it look distinct from the source material to such an extent, they could at least try to make it look interesting. This is just a teaser, but by the looks of it, they haven't.

Re: Tin Tin Teaser...

IIRC, Spielberg said they used motion capture, so the characters could look as much like the artwork as possible. for example TinTins hair and Haddocks nose. But, of course it being done is a style much closer to photo-real. If you drew these CG characters as line art they'd be a very good match for the original art.

Re: Tin Tin Teaser...

Yeah, feels off the mark, somehow. And that plane crash? Looked like a toy bouncing and breaking up.

Re: Tin Tin Teaser...

Which is how it looked in the book, iirc.

That gave me shivers. I'm surprisingly looking forward to this! :D

Re: Tin Tin Teaser...

With Peter Jackson and Spielberg working together sounds like a dream come true and i loved TinTin since i was 8 when it aired on HBO 21 years ago

Re: Tin Tin Teaser...

Aw, I expected Rin Tin Tin, the movie! :rommie:

That clip looks, ehhh. Why didn't they just either do live action or go for a "real" cartoon? The halfway stuff usually turns out to be a train wreck.

TheOneRing.Net alerted me that the first Tintin teaser has been released. If that link doesn't work (it froze on me after playing the first 10 seconds), here's the only YouTube link I've found so far (it cuts out the first five seconds, but it only shows Snowy and Tintin walking out a door).

What do people think? I've been rather apprehensive about this film (from added to characters to no indication of Calculus being in the film even though the film covers his introduction story), but this teaser has me pretty excited. Either way, I'll will be sitting in a theater come December...

I saw a glimpse of the recurrent bad guy Alan. It was unmistakable! I'm not sure about the skin rendition though, but it's too early to pass on any judgment. The animation looks cool though.

Oh, good catch! I didn't notice that the first time. I looked up the cast list and Daniel Mays (Ashes to Ashes, a future episode of Doctor Who) plays him!

You know, it looks terrible.

I am glad that Spielberg and Jackson are working together. I just wish it could be a different project. Anything else. The fact is that, despite how well known both those names are and how historic pairing them together might be, it won't make any difference, because a) the target audience of little kids doesn't know who they are and they don't care and b) the failure of the animation technique to generate interest has been demonstrated by the failure of Mars Needs Moms, get over it Hollywood, the public hates mo-co and they generally hate 3D

I'm gonna reserve judgment but that last shot of Tintin looks like it's made of screams and nightmares. The Uncanny Valley strikes again.

Well, I predict that the movie will be huge in Europe, particularly France since that's where people have been exposed to the franchise the most. Perhaps in Canada too as it's been very popular here too. However, I don't really see it making much of money in America as I don't think the general American public really know who Tintin is.
