Time traveling

You've misunderstood your reading. That's not a mark against you. There's subtlety to the difference between space expanding and objects in space moving. The ``inflationary era'' to which you're referring is also a not-obvious development of the expansion of space.

You've misunderstood this as well. Magnets as in the kind made of matter in bulk lose their magnetism at great enough temperatures, yes. This has nothing to do with electromagnetism as a force existing.

Gustavo Marques Hobold who has a Masters in Thermal Sciences says that there is a connection between temperature and electromagnetism but it is not entirely understood yet.

The question that I have is if we can't travel faster than the speed of light to time travel backwards then how can time travel be possible except for discussions involving rhetoric and innuendo?

Since physical laws don't seem to allow it, the obvious and most likely answer is that it is not possible. (Which is WHY it's usually relegated to rhetorical discussions.)

You've said the same thing yourself on three occasions in this same thread. I would hope that you agree with yourself.

There's also this little thing to consider: if time travel WERE possible, travelling to any point before your own conception would be incredibly dangerous to you, thanks to the butterfly effect of chaos theory.

The odds of your conception actually taking place are already pretty long, the sperm cell that was half of "you" was only one of millions (probably more, I can't be bothered to look up the # of sperm in an ejaculation). It's specific chances of being the one to fertilize the egg weren't very high, and another sperm would have still resulted in a you, but one that was NOT you.

Now take into account the aforementioned effect. The SLIGHTEST change has ballooning consequences, and all that has to happen is your parents don't have the exact same sex at the exact same time in the exact same space that they did when you were conceived, for YOU not to exist..

That's what keeping happening to all the time travelers. They immediately want to see what happened to the dinosaurs, or meet Jesus, or kill Hitler, they travel back in time to before their births, and promptly wink into nothingness.

I just want to travel back 24 hours so I can buy a lottery ticket.

---------------

To buy a starship, of course.

No, seriously, I'm just keeping it out of the hands of the unworthy. ANYONE could get their grubby paws on it, and then where would we be? You can't leave things like the lottery up to random chance.
