Time For The Return Of Thomas Riker ?

Relayer1

Admiral
Admiral
The 'other' Riker is missing in action. Would you like to see him again ?

I'd like to see him come back into Treklit, and maybe even back to Starfleet. Nothing that has happened to the character so far is impossible to retcon...

I think a recent novel mentioned Tom Riker was dead. There are a number of Tom Riker stories that all sort of contradict each other - the DS9 comic ""Sole Asylum", Imzadi II and the Strange New Worlds DS9 short story "Promises Made".

Which novel? I'd love to see him come back :)

The Titan novel Fallen Gods says that Thomas Riker is believed dead. Which I guess could leave some wiggle room if anyone ever wanted to revisit the character.

As mentioned in another thread, Thomas Riker also shows up in in one of the Slings and Arrows eBooks, which were set in the lead up to First Contact.

Not exactly. Tom is discussed in "A Weary Life", but he doesn't actually appear in the story.

Personally, I prefer to think that Tom was recaptured after Imzadi II, then rescued by the Defiant in "Promises Made" It's not so much that I'm deadset against the character being killed off, if it was done well in a moving story. But to just mention in passing, "oh yeah, that guy totally died..."?

Perhaps Tom Riker has been in Titan all along...

I pitched Marco that story for a Titan novel. He politely said no. :)

Maybe it's time to try another Tom Riker pitch ! It's obvious now that he's not been on Titan before, but he'd have to visit Will and Deanna in his 'comeback' appearance.

I'm sure he could be fitted in on the Aventine or even the Robinson afterwards.

P.S. You could do with a 'Writer' tag - ask the moderators !

MASSIVE spoiler for The Poisoned Chalice:
Deanna's mouth moved, but no sound came out. Christine Vale was staring wide-eyed, almost unable to comprehend the enourmity of what was going on. As the entire bridge crew looked on in shock. Captain William T. Riker stepped up to the viewscreen and turned to face his crew. As they all watched, he reached up and peeled away his sideburns.

"No!" cried Deanna, her face a mask of pain and grief. She tried to step toward him but her numb legs failed her, and she fell to her knees.

Looking down at his wife, the man who had captained the USS Titan for the past six years proclaimed, "It's me, Deanna! It was me all along, Deanna... Thomas Riker!"
