Well, Kirk was probably promoted to a desk job, because he would be a lot less likely to crash (or cause an interstellar incident) with a desk.More TOS. Specifically what drove Spock to Kolinahr and why Kirk left for a desk job. I always felt the novels did a poor job when dealing with these issues.

Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scott making it to the bridge of the Enterprise-D during their various 24th century appearances. I always wondered why it didn't happen?
^Kirk couldn't have, he died before having the chance to explore the 24th century, but it would have been nice to have Spock and Scotty meet.
1) Uhura left in command.
2) An episode where Kirk, Spock and McCoy are captured and absent for much of the episode, (Tholian Web style), leaving Scotty, Sulu, Chekov and Uhura (and possibly Chapel) to save them and thereby giving them the spotlight.
3) I wish TOS Season 1 would've been comprised completely of Captain Pike episodes (back in 1964) before a reboot into the Star Trek we know now starting with "Where No Man Has Gone Before" with Kirk, Spock, Scotty, etc.
4) Speaking of which, episodes highlighting Scotty, Sulu, Chekov and Uhura.
5) More promotions in TNG.
6) Another Family episode.
7) Another Spock appearance in TNG
The original idea for Too Short a Season of having Kirk as the admiral agonizing over an incident in his past would have been a much better send-off than Generations.
Yes.1) Uhura left in command.

Could have been interesting.3) I wish TOS Season 1 would've been comprised completely of Captain Pike episodes (back in 1964) before a reboot into the Star Trek we know now starting with "Where No Man Has Gone Before" with Kirk, Spock, Scotty, etc.
